You've run utility and civil projects for years, and you know how they're won or lost: scope, subs, change orders, and cash flow. Now you're ready to lead the biggest, most complex work a contractor takes on, and to build the PMs who run it with you.
Blazey Construction Services is a Texas contractor doing utility construction (wet and dry utilities), civil construction, roadway construction and rehabilitation in asphalt and concrete, and pavement sub-grade work. Our customers include engineering firms, municipalities, and prime contractors. We're hiring a Senior Project Manager to lead our most complex, high-risk, high-value projects. You'll work directly with Executive Leadership, Estimating, Accounting, Operations, and our Superintendents, and your decisions will drive project results, profitability, and client satisfaction.
What you'll do
- Lead multiple large, complex projects at once, owning the budgets, master schedules, forecasts, and cash flow.
- Be the primary escalation point on major jobs and the company's lead contact for owners, engineers, municipalities, and prime contractors.
- Partner with Superintendents on productivity, safety, and quality in the field.
- Run subcontractor procurement, scope alignment, contract negotiation, and performance management.
- Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, contract administration, and disputes.
- Work with Estimating on bid reviews, preconstruction strategy, and a clean handoff to the field.
- Plan major material purchases and long-lead equipment.
- Take projects through closeout, including financial reconciliation, warranty, and final turnover.
- Mentor and develop Project Managers, Assistant Project Managers, and project teams, and help set the best practices everyone uses.
- Support business development by building long-term client relationships.
What you bring
- 12 years of progressive construction, utilities, or civil project management experience.
- A track record managing multi-million-dollar utility, civil, or infrastructure projects, such as wet or dry utilities and roadway work.
- Experience leading Project Managers and large, multi-disciplinary teams.
- Strong command of contract administration, job cost control, and financial forecasting.
- Strong negotiation, conflict resolution, and claims mitigation skills.
- Proficiency in Excel and enterprise project management software.
- A valid Texas driver's license.
- A degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent senior-level construction leadership experience counts.
The work environment
This is mainly an office role in Houston, with regular visits to job sites. In the field, you'll follow OSHA safety standards and wear the right PPE.
