Senior Project Manager – Commercial Construction
Beloit/Rockford area
A highly respected general contractor is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead complex commercial construction projects throughout Wisconsin and Illinois.
With decades of experience and a diverse portfolio of commercial, industrial, institutional, renovation, and adaptive-reuse work, this contractor offers the resources and capabilities of a larger organization while maintaining a collaborative, relationship-driven approach to construction.
The Senior Project Manager will have full responsibility for project performance from preconstruction through closeout. This individual will lead internal project teams, partner closely with field operations, maintain strong client relationships, and ensure each project is delivered safely, successfully, and profitably.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage commercial construction projects from preconstruction and contract award through final completion and closeout
- Develop and maintain project budgets, cost forecasts, schedules, procurement plans, and financial reports
- Oversee subcontractor bidding, scope review, buyout, contract negotiations, and ongoing performance
- Partner with superintendents to coordinate project execution, logistics, manpower, safety, quality, and scheduling
- Serve as the primary point of contact for owners, architects, engineers, consultants, and trade partners
- Lead owner, architect, and contractor meetings while maintaining clear communication and accountability
- Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, pay applications, project documentation, and long-lead material procurement
- Identify potential risks early and implement solutions that protect the project’s schedule, budget, and quality
- Support design-build and construction management projects through early planning, constructability reviews, value engineering, and design coordination
- Maintain accurate project forecasts and provide regular updates to company leadership
- Mentor Project Managers, Assistant Project Managers, Project Engineers, and other developing team members
- Promote lasting client relationships and help identify opportunities for repeat business
- Ensure projects consistently meet company standards for safety, quality, professionalism, and client satisfaction
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred
- 7+ years of progressive commercial construction experience
- Demonstrated success managing complex ground-up construction, additions, renovations, or adaptive-reuse projects
- Experience with commercial, industrial, institutional, multifamily, hospitality, municipal, educational, or mixed-use construction is valued
- Strong knowledge of construction contracts, project financials, scheduling, procurement, and subcontractor management
- Experience working within general contracting, construction management, or design-build delivery methods
- Proven ability to lead project teams and manage multiple stakeholders
- Strong communication, negotiation, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to anticipate project challenges and make sound, timely decisions
- Proficiency with construction project management, scheduling, and document-control software
- Willingness to travel periodically based on project requirements
