Shift: Monday - Friday 7:30 AM to 4PM

Pay range: $65.00 - $68.96/hr.
Onsite Job, Travel: Will travel to supplier facility and/or test site within USA.

  • Multiple disciplines: Mechanical & electrical. Will be coordinating across entire vehicle and work with team to execute; work with multiple teams.
  • 5-years of engineering experience with 2+ years of successful engineering project management of medium or greater technical complexity.
  • Root-cause analysis, electro-mechanical system integrations, DFMEA & DVP&R development.
  • Must have prior experience with managing NDA's
Job Description
  • The Project Engineer leads and manages engineering projects. Responsible for developing project plans, project budgets, sub-contractor statements of work and all other associated project status reporting. Responsible for making critical decisions that have a large impact on projects and engineering initiatives.
  • Develops and fosters Engineers to think innovatively, hold accountability, and process improvement daily. Performs high level, engineering analysis, design or re-design, validation and troubleshooting of complex components for heavy duty vehicles.
  • Provides integration and execution support for vehicle, system, sub-system and component design. Provides technical mentorship in high level analysis and design of new and modified components and subsystems in accordance with engineering standards and project scope.
  • A successful candidate will have 5-years of engineering experience with 2+ years of successful engineering project management of medium or greater technical complexity. A stand-out candidate will have experience in root-cause analysis, electro-mechanical system integrations, DFMEA & DVP&R development.
YOUR IMPACT:
  • Indirect manage an engineering team consisting of Engineers, Designers, and Technicians.
  • Plans, directs, and coordinates engineering activities.
  • Provide coaching and development through regular performance feedback.
  • Collaborate and build relationships with internal and external customers, across segments and functions.
  • Ability to present and defend technical engineering decisions to Engineering leadership, *** leadership, and external customers.
  • Responsible for completion of a project or part of a project of moderate complexity on time.
  • May be responsible for overall project schedule and budget.
  • May be responsible for managing multiple priorities.
  • Performs more complex engineering calculations, investigations, and tasks as assigned according to *** as well as general industry engineering standards and processes.
  • Responsible for preparation and delivery of plans, designs, computation methods, and/or reporting.
  • Collaborate as needed with other engineering or business support disciplines internally as well as suppliers externally.
  • Develop and review interface control documentation with suppliers and business partners including mechanical, electrical, software and controls.
  • May have exposure to the external customers and/or industry organizations.
  • Provide guidance or mentorship to entry level engineers working on common projects.
  • Research, create, and update standard engineering methodology and procedures - best practices, etc.
  • Participate in the budgeting process to include recommending capital improvements and preparing justification data as required.
  • Maintain effective communication with suppliers, internal and external customers, and outside resources concerning technical issues.
  • Communicate project objectives to team members.
  • Enforce the proper use of engineering criteria and drawing standards. Ensure that technical issues are conducted within the framework of company policies and procedures.
  • Evaluate designs for performance, safety, and reliability.
  • Create and maintain project documentation for analysis, research, and historical records.
  • Perform engineering analysis to support the selection of parts, components, and materials that meet requirements.
  • Provide complex technical assistance for production support.
  • Analyze and resolve issues reported to Engineering via verbal or written communication.
  • Provide mentorship to team members to ensure the appropriate engineering analysis is performed and documented.
  • Prepare technical proposals, quotations, reports, and presentations.
  • Prepare subcontractor Scopes of Work.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • In-office attendance is required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Accredited Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field and five (5) or more years of related experience.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • PMP certification
  • Experience managing a project.
  • Vehicle system experience
Notes:
  • This role is with the Combat Vehicle Systems Group and is a back filling for a perm employee. Will manage a project of a weapons system being applied to a vehicle platform. Mechanical, electrical, design, and software engineering will be included in the project, and though the project engineer will not need experience in all of these engineering fields, an understanding is helpful. Military experience is a plus.
  • Experience with model base system engineering is strongly preferred; MOSA. Experience with sub elements of a system, or a full system.
  • The team is looking for a project management/business analyst candidate with an engineering background and vehicle systems experience.
  • Will lead tasks and break down requirements, estimate labor, coordinate proposals, evaluations, cost and work with various other teams involved. Will need to understand and break down requirements, work with subcontractors, present to the customer (US Gov't) regarding resiks, status, budget, schedule etc. and create slides for these presentations.
  • Will be responsible for 2+ design engineers and designers under them.
