Project Accountant III

About the Role

My client is seeking an experienced Project Accountant III to support project budgeting, financial analysis, contract proposals, and financial reporting. This position works closely with the Budget Manager and Controller and is ideal for an accounting professional with strong analytical skills and experience supporting contracts and RFPs.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain project and proposal budgets, cost estimates, travel budgets, and supporting financial documentation.
• Review RFPs, contracts, and amendments to ensure budgets and financial records meet contractual requirements.
• Support state and federal contract proposals, including budget development and financial analysis.
• Prepare budget-to-actual reports and analyze variances, trends, risks, and financial performance.
• Track contracts and prepare contract summaries and monthly project financial reports.
• Communicate budget and financial information to project teams and leadership.
• Maintain budgeting procedures, templates, and documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Use Costpoint, Excel, Microsoft Copilot, and other financial tools for budgeting, reporting, analysis, and process improvement.
• Provide ad hoc financial analysis and proposal support as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; MBA or Master’s in Accounting is a plus.
• 5+ years of experience in accounting, budgeting, project accounting, or financial analysis.
• Experience with RFPs, procurement, contracts, or proposal budgeting.
• Government contracting and/or healthcare experience is a plus.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, advanced formulas, and data analysis.
• Experience with computerized accounting systems; Costpoint experience is highly preferred.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to clearly communicate financial information to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
