Description

The Senior Project Accountant will be an integral member of the Finance and Accounting team and will work closely with the Director of Portfolio Accounting. This individual will be responsible for overseeing the accounting and financial reporting for a portfolio of commercial real estate properties.

Our client is a privately held commercial real estate investment and management firm headquartered in New York City. The organization acquires, develops, owns, and manages a significant portfolio of commercial properties.

Description

  • Oversee accounting for three commercial properties.
  • Prepare and record straight-line rent income.
  • Prepare operating expense and real estate tax escalations.
  • Prepare annual operating budgets and update current forecasts.
  • Prepare monthly tenant rent billings.
  • Review quarterly and annual lender reporting packages.
  • Review real estate tax escrow schedules.
  • Coordinate and manage tenant audits.
  • Review bank reconciliations.
  • Prepare monthly variance analyses and reports.
  • Review capital invoices, including building improvements, tenant improvements, and leasing commissions.
  • Partner with property teams to establish and maintain trackers for capital projects.
  • Review lease abstracts for accuracy and completeness.
  • Calculate mortgage debt ratios and other required financial metrics.

Profile

  • 5+ years of real estate accounting experience, preferably with strong knowledge of GAAP.
  • Experience with MRI accounting software.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including lookup functions, IF statements, and pivot tables.
  • Strong understanding of commercial real estate operations.
  • Solid knowledge of commercial lease terminology and accounting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong managerial and interpersonal skills.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
