An Atlanta-area commercial general contractor is seeking a Senior Project Accountant to oversee project accounting and work closely with project managers and company leadership. This opportunity is ideal for an accounting professional who understands construction and enjoys staying involved in the financial details that keep projects moving.

Responsibilities:

• Manage project accounting from setup through closeout.

• Prepare and review owner billings, subcontractor payments, and supporting documentation.

• Track job costs, budgets, commitments, and change orders.

• Reconcile project accounts and investigate discrepancies.

• Partner with project managers to review costs, forecasts, and project financial performance.

• Support monthly reporting, month-end close, and audit requests.

• Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with contract requirements.

Requirements:

• A degree in Accounting is required.

• Previous accounting experience in the construction industry is required.

• Strong understanding of job cost accounting and construction billing.

• Proficiency in Excel and construction accounting software.

• Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-through.

• Ability to communicate clearly with project teams and manage multiple deadlines.
