    Description

Work hard, have fun, make history. That's what we do every day at Amazon. As a key member of Amazon's Global Real Estate & Facilities (GREF) team, the Senior Program Manager will be directly responsible for implementing the portfolio strategies developed for the Puget Sound region - turning city, building, and org-level strategy into executed outcomes. Working in close partnership with the Portfolio Strategist, this role owns the end-to-end delivery of lease, build, move, consolidate, and close actions, keeping each initiative on scope, on schedule, and aligned to business needs.

The Senior Program Manager will serve as the connective tissue between strategy and execution - taking the recommendations the Strategist aligns with GREF decision makers and senior business leaders, and driving the cross-functional work required to make them real. They will build and manage detailed implementation plans, track milestones and dependencies, surface and resolve risks, and keep stakeholders aligned on status and next steps. They will use reporting and data to monitor progress and communicate clearly with partners at all levels of the organization.

The optimal candidate is an experienced, highly organized program manager who thrives in an entrepreneurial culture - providing structure, driving accountability, and communicating relentlessly - while remaining approachable and consultative. They are not afraid to dive deep into details, take ownership, and think big. The candidate must be able to balance frugality with creativity in solving delivery challenges and approach problem-solving with an emphasis on root cause. An ideal candidate can navigate high levels of ambiguity, demonstrate a strong bias for action, and take calculated risks in a fast-paced environment.

    Key job responsibilities

    • Own the implementation of Puget Sound portfolio strategies, translating approved strategic plans into detailed, executable program plans with clear milestones, owners, and timelines.
    • Work in direct partnership with the Portfolio Strategist to ensure execution stays aligned with strategic intent as plans move from recommendation to delivery.
    • Work cross-functionally with a wide range of teams, including Amazon Business Orgs, Regional Portfolio Management, Occupancy Planning, Design and Construction, IT, Security, Workplace, Finance, and Facilities.
    • Drive coordination of lease, build, move, consolidate, and close actions across the Puget Sound portfolio, managing dependencies and keeping initiatives on track.
    • Track progress against plan, proactively identify and mitigate risks and blockers, and escalate decisions when needed.
    • Manage cross-functional engagement with internal stakeholders (SPMs, D&C, MAC, RE&F), vendor partners, and customers to drive coordination of efforts.
    • Provide regular status reporting and data-driven updates to stakeholders and senior leaders.
    • Effectively prioritize work efforts across vendor partner contingency.

    About Company

At Amazon, we don’t wait for the next big idea to present itself. We envision the shape of impossible things and then we boldly make them reality. So far, this mindset has helped us achieve some incredible things. Let’s build new systems, challenge the status quo, and design the world we want to live in. We believe the work you do here will be the best work of your life.

Wherever you are in your career exploration, Amazon likely has an opportunity for you. Our research scientists and engineers shape the future of natural language understanding with Alexa. Fulfillment center associates around the globe send customer orders from our warehouses to doorsteps. Product managers set feature requirements, strategy, and marketing messages for brand new customer experiences. And as we grow, we’ll add jobs that haven’t been invented yet.

    It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

    Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
