Senior Product Support Specialist

Position is onsite in Washington D.C. Navy Yard with occasional telework as approved, Responsibilities: Partner with Government leads to examine contract requirements, contractor deliverables, and Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) activities; identify product support dependencies, schedule concerns, and actions needed to sustain program execution. The position requires an experienced acquisition logistics professional who can independently organize complex assignments, anticipate Government needs, and help maintain alignment across the program office, warfare centers, platform stakeholders, and industry performers.

Overview:

VTG is seeking a Senior Product Support Specialist to support our U.S. Navy customer in the Washington, DC area. The selected candidate will work with the logistics and production teams supporting the Conventional Prompt Strike (CPS) program office to turn product support information into executable schedules, recommendations, plans, performance measures, and leadership briefings. The position requires an experienced acquisition logistics professional who can independently organize complex assignments, anticipate Government needs, and help maintain alignment across the program office, warfare centers, platform stakeholders, and industry performers. Responsibilities:

• Partner with Government leads to examine contract requirements, contractor deliverables, and Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) activities; identify product support dependencies, schedule concerns, and actions needed to sustain program execution.
• Turn complex logistics product information, analyses, and technical inputs into clear recommendations, plans, metrics, briefings, and other decision-ready program products.
• Act as a disciplined coordination link with Navy warfare centers by communicating program priorities and moving essential information to the appropriate stakeholders while respecting organizational authorities and decision boundaries.
• Apply practical knowledge of Integrated Product Support (IPS), with particular emphasis on design interface, maintenance planning and management, manpower and personnel, supply support, and technical data.
• Provide informed support across additional IPS areas, including product support management, sustaining engineering, and packaging, handling, storage, and transportation, as required by program needs.
• Assist with the development, refinement, and maintenance of life-cycle sustainment planning products.
• Support Product Support Analysis activities and the review, organization, and application of Logistics Product Data.
• Coordinate the development, review, and acceptance of product support artifacts and prime-contractor deliverables needed for weapon-system integration, fielding, sustainment, and fleet readiness.
• Assess logistics and production information for schedule, integration, readiness, affordability, and supportability implications; present significant issues with clearly defined options and recommended actions.
• Develop actionable metrics and recommendations that support fleet training and readiness objectives.
• Proactively prepare accurate, concise, and traceable decision-quality briefings for senior military and Government civilian leaders on product support and production matters.
• Represent the Government Lead’s operational intent in working groups and cross-functional teams; document decisions, track commitments, and drive assigned actions through closure.
• Maintain action trackers, integrated schedules, risk and issue summaries, meeting products, and executive-level correspondence supporting product support execution.
• Coordinate with engineering, production, contracts, test, training, supply, maintenance, and technical-data stakeholders so that support requirements are considered early and remain aligned as the system matures.
• Identify and implement improvements to recurring workflows, data quality, deliverable reviews, and communication practices across the product support team.
• Take ownership of assigned work, establish priorities among competing demands, communicate changes or barriers early, and complete tasks with minimal supervision.

Qualifications:

Required skills:

• Must have one of the following for the Senior level:
  
  • a) A bachelor's degree in a relevant field and 10 years of professional/internship engineering experience, OR 
  • b) A master's degree in a relevant field and at least 5 years of professional experience
• Must have an active DoD Secret level clearance and ability to sustain one
• Must be a US Citizen
• Must have demonstrated Product Support Management, defense acquisition logistics, or life-cycle support experience involving complex military systems.
• Must understand DoD acquisition policy and the application of IPS concepts throughout a system life cycle.
• Must be able to interpret contracts, statements of work, data requirements, schedules, and logistics or technical products and relate them to program execution.
• Must demonstrate strong technical writing skills and the ability to develop requirements, analytical products, senior-level briefings, and written recommendations.
• Must be proficient with Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, and Excel; experience with schedule and collaboration tools in a controlled program environment is strongly desired.
• Must exhibit sound judgment, close attention to detail, strong organization, and critical-thinking skills.
• Must be able to manage short-deadline assignments and competing priorities without continuous direction.
• Must communicate effectively and work collaboratively across Government and contractor organizations while preserving appropriate roles and authorities.
• Must be an engaged team member who accepts responsibility for outcomes, prepares in advance, and follows commitments through completion.

 Preferred skills:

• Previous support to Department of the Navy acquisition or sustainment organizations, including weapon-system or combat-system programs.
• Experience working with Navy warfare centers, platform integration organizations, prime contractors, or original equipment manufacturers.
• Experience with Product Support Analysis, Logistics Product Data, maintenance development, provisioning, technical publications, training support, or supportability analysis.
• Experience preparing or maintaining life-cycle sustainment documentation and supporting milestone, technical, or program reviews.
• Knowledge of schedule integration, contract deliverable review, risk management, and performance measurement for a major defense program.
• Ability to synthesize information from multiple technical disciplines and explain program implications to senior leaders.
• Up to 10% travel may be required.
