Job Description

  • Lead product safety assessments and compliance reviews throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Evaluate products against industry safety standards and regulatory requirements including SEMI, IEC, UL, CE, ISO, and related frameworks.
  • Identify potential design risks and work with engineering teams to implement effective mitigation strategies.
  • Define and integrate safety and compliance requirements into product development processes.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, regulatory, and safety-related requirements including RoHS, REACH, FCC, and OSHA standards.
  • Coordinate and maintain product certifications through collaboration with external testing laboratories and certification bodies.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and proactively implement strategies to maintain ongoing compliance.
  • Conduct hazard analyses, risk assessments, FMEA activities, and root cause investigations.
  • Develop and maintain safety documentation, risk management plans, and compliance records.
  • Create and oversee product safety testing protocols and validation programmes.
  • Review test data and recommend design improvements to address safety or compliance concerns.
  • Provide expert guidance during design reviews and cross-functional engineering discussions.
  • Act as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies, auditors, and certification organisations.
  • Prepare documentation required for audits, regulatory submissions, and compliance reporting.
  • Deliver safety and compliance training across engineering, manufacturing, and quality functions.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to industry standards development activities.

The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Safety Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 5-8+ years of experience in Product Safety Engineering, Compliance Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Experience within highly regulated industries, ideally semiconductor capital equipment or complex industrial systems.
  • Strong knowledge of global safety and compliance standards including SEMI, NFPA, IEC, UL, CE, ISO, RoHS, and related regulations.
  • Proven experience conducting risk assessments, hazard analyses, FMEA activities, and root cause investigations.
  • Ability to interpret and apply regulatory requirements to product development and engineering processes.
  • Strong project management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Experience with radiation-emitting equipment.
  • Experience conducting SISTEMA evaluations.
  • Functional safety expertise supporting PLC-based safety systems.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Product Safety Engineer (CPSE), Certified Compliance Professional (CCP), or similar certification.
  • Advanced experience managing safety certification programmes and regulatory audits.
  • Expertise supporting complex electromechanical products within a global manufacturing environment
