Salary: $140,000 - $165,000 per year
A bit about us:Our Client is Dallas-based manufacturer of engineered commercial and industrial HVAC equipment — make-up air, evaporative cooling, direct-fired heating, and specialty cooling systems built to order rather than pulled off a shelf. We're a division of a privately held, family-owned company that's been building HVAC products since the 1940s. No private equity, no sponsor, no debt story.
For the past several years our capacity was largely dedicated to serving hyperscale data center customers, which meant product development took a back seat. That work has wound down, and we're reinvesting in our product lines — including one launched in 2025 — and building out a real data center cooling strategy.
We're a lean team of about 45 salaried professionals. There's no army of engineers or marketing staff here, which means people wear multiple hats and decisions get made quickly. If you want a seat where your work is visible to the President every week, this is that.
Why join us?You'd be the only product person in the building, reporting directly to the President. No committee, no inherited roadmap, no waiting on three layers of approval to change a price sheet. You own the portfolio — the lines, the configurations, the pricing, the launches.
The work is genuinely there waiting. Nobody has owned this function since 2017, so the literature is dated, the pricing needs a fresh look, and there's a product designed in 2025 that hasn't had a proper launch. Whatever you build, you built.
Our Client is privately held and family-owned, which means we make decisions on our own timeline rather than a sponsor's. Stable, profitable, and not for sale.
And the market's in our favor — data center and industrial demand for air handling isn't slowing down. We just need someone to point us at the right opportunities.
Competitive base, full benefits, onsite in Dallas
Job DetailsWhat you'll own:
- Product strategy and roadmaps across four established HVAC equipment brands
- Growth strategy for the data center cooling business and for a product line launched in 2025
- Product development specifications — design requirements, cost targets, competitive analysis, market sizing, and launch schedules
- New product introductions end-to-end, including target dates and target costs, working directly with engineering and sales
- The features and options matrix: what's standard, what's optional, and what each option costs
- List pricing, price sheets, and order forms
- Product introduction packages — sales and technical literature, feature/benefit analysis, IOM manuals, selection software content, and sales training
- Competitive intelligence and product line sales and profit tracking
What we're looking for:
- 8–10+ years in commercial or industrial HVAC
- Product management experience at a company that manufactures HVAC equipment
- Demonstrated ownership of a product line: configurations, options, and list pricing
- Experience writing product development specs with cost targets and market sizing
- Comfort operating without support staff — you'll build your own pricing tables and collateral
- Technical fluency with HVAC equipment and the engineer/specifier sales channel
- Bachelor's degree; engineering or MBA a plus
Nice to have:
- Data center cooling market knowledge
- Products serving warehouses and distribution centers
- Manufacturers' rep channel experience
Not a fit for this role:
- Product marketing, brand, or campaign roles without line ownership; distributor or component-supplier backgrounds; applications engineering without product responsibility.
Logistics:
- 100% onsite in Dallas. No relocation assistance or remote option. Direct hire, reporting to the President.
