    S enior Process Engineer

    Location: Englewood, CO (Denver Metro Area)
    Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire

    Overview

    We are seeking a Senior Process Engineer to support our client's growing portfolio of projects in the Denver, CO area. In this role, you will provide high-level process engineering expertise across oil refining, pipeline, gas processing, and/or chemical industry projects. You will work under the guidance of a Lead Process Engineer while also mentoring junior team members and contributing to project leadership and execution.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Deliver process engineering services in compliance with client, customer, and regulatory requirements on time and within budget
    • Initiate, manage, and (as needed) supervise process engineering activities across assigned projects
    • Participate in project meetings, prepare progress reports, and follow established quality and checking procedures
    • Ensure project scope clarity and manage changes in accordance with project change management processes
    • Provide technical support during procurement, construction, and commissioning phases
    • Define project requirements, assign tasks, and oversee progress, including promoting workshare where appropriate
    • Identify and resolve discrepancies between client and customer requirements
    • Communicate resource needs and planning requirements to the Process Engineering Manager
    • Collaborate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders, including clients
    • Identify technical challenges, develop solutions, and escalate issues when necessary
    • Provide mentorship and technical oversight to junior and mid-level engineers

    Technical Responsibilities

    • Develop, review, and approve key process engineering deliverables, including:
      • Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs)
      • Heat & Material Balances (HMBs)
      • Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
    • Build and maintain process simulations using tools such as Aspen HYSYS, UniSim Design, or similar
    • Perform:
      • Line sizing, velocity, and pressure drop calculations
      • Equipment sizing and specification (vessels, heat exchangers, pumps, compressors, control valves, PSVs)
    • Conduct Pressure Safety Valve (PSV) analysis and sizing (Iprism experience preferred)
    • Perform relief system and flare system analysis

    Qualifications & Experience

    • 10+ years of process engineering experience in oil & gas, refining, or chemical industries
    • Proven experience leading process engineering efforts on multi-disciplinary projects
    • Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
    • Demonstrated ability to deliver accurate, high-quality work within deadlines
    • Solid understanding of process engineering fundamentals and cross-discipline coordination
    • Knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements

    Technical Skills

    • Experience with process simulation and engineering software, including:
      • AspenTech (HYSYS, Flare System Analyzer, etc.)
      • Client UniSim
      • BRE ProMax
      • Hydraulic modeling tools
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
    • Preferred experience:
      • OGLA (Oil & Gas Location Assessment)
      • Pipeline hydraulic analysis
      • Flow assurance

    Education

    • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or related field from an ABET-accredited institution

    Preferred Credentials

    • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
    • Colorado and/or California PE license strongly preferred
