    Job Title: Senior Platform Engineer
    Location: Canton, MA - hybrid, onsite 1-2 days per week
    USC or GC only
    Duration: 3-6 months contract


    IMPORTANT: There is potential direct hire by client after the initial 3-6 months contract.

    Position Description
    The Senior Platform Engineer will report into the Manager, Platform Engineering and will be responsible for supporting the modernization and consolidation of client IT infrastructure to automate workloads and pursue next generation innovation. The Senior Platform Engineer will leverage their experience and expertise to develop the strategy, design, and implementation of CI/CD pipelines for cloud native applications, as well as large scale projects hosted in either AWS or Azure. The Senior Platform Engineer will collaborate with multiple teams in IT to improve operations and the performance, security, and scalability of cloud infrastructure. The Senior Platform Engineer will be involved in designing and architecting complex systems and platforms, analyzing requirements, proposing solutions, and designing architectures that are scalable, dependable, and cost effective.

    This position is located in our Burlington, MA office, however a hybrid working model is acceptable.

    Your future duties and responsibilities:
    • Work collaboratively with engineering teams to identify and implement optimal cloud based solutions.
    • Define and document best practices and strategies regarding application deployment and infrastructure maintenance.
    • Design and implement cloud infrastructure solutions that meet business requirements and align with IT strategy.
    • Ensure application performance, uptime, and scale while maintaining high standards for code quality and thoughtful design.
    • Guide and coach more junior engineers as they grow their skills and gain experience within the Cloud Engineering space.
    • Provide technical leadership in the deployment and operational management of cloud solutions.
    • Design and maintain cloud provisioning templates required for building and managing cloud platforms while adhering to client security, compliance, and performance standards and policies.
    • Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines for building and managing cloud native applications while adhering to client security, compliance, and performance standards and policies.
    • Design, build, and deploy cloud applications, including large scale data processing, computationally intensive statistical modeling, and advanced analytics.
    • Participate in all aspects of the SDLC for cloud solutions, including planning, requirements, development, testing, and quality assurance.
    • Troubleshoot incidents, identify root causes, fix and document problems, and implement preventive measures.
    • Maintain and optimize infrastructure through regular updates and security patches, ensuring compliance with security best practices and long term sustainability.
    • Educate teams on the implementation of new cloud based initiatives, providing associated training when necessary.
    • Demonstrate exceptional problem solving skills, with an ability to see and solve issues before they affect business productivity.
    • Develop and maintain supporting documentation for all automated processes.
    • Integrate security measures into the platform architecture to protect sensitive data and ensure compliance with relevant security and industry regulations.
    • Work closely with Production and Non Production environment owners to develop and maintain a role based workflow that supports segregated duties.
    • Coordinate and lead training and information sharing meetings with the rest of the Cloud Engineering team.
    • Oversee and support production deployments during major release activities for components owned by the Cloud Engineering team.
    • Serve as a subject matter expert in committees pertaining to Cloud Governance and Architecture
    Required qualifications to be successful in this role
    Education, Certification and Licensure
    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
    Experience:
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Cloud Engineering or DevOps role with knowledge of AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud platforms.
    • Demonstrated experience leading large projects or small teams.
    Skill Requirements
    • Strong leadership, including the ability to influence others, work independently, and exercise appropriate judgment in decision making.
    • Proven ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams of business analysts, developers, data scientists, and subject matter experts.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with management, peers, and other departments within IT.
    • Respect for change management, environmental integrity, and process workflow within a relatively new and rapidly maturing organization.
    • Strong analytical and technical ability, including general issue troubleshooting.
    • Understanding of and experience with the five pillars of a well architected framework.
    • Ability to quickly learn client specific processes, topology, and tools, often with limited documentation.
    • Technical experience with OS level administration (Linux, Windows), IaC provisioning tools (Terraform, ARM, Ansible, CloudFormation), SDLC principles, and build orchestration tools such as Jenkins or Bamboo.
    • Preferred experience with deployment tools such as CD/RO, Ansible, or Azure DevOps, and source control management tools such as GitHub, SVN, or BitBucket.
    • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or JavaScript.
    • Experience with container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes, and microservices architecture.
    • Familiarity with DevOps principles and CI/CD tools such as CloudBees/Jenkins, GitLab, or GitHub Actions.
