Senior Platform - DevOps Engineer

$80.00 - $120.00per hr / Salary Target: $200K - $230K + Bonus/Equity
Job Description:
Our client is looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer to accelerate critical platform and infrastructure initiatives in a fast-growing GovTech environment. This person will be a hands-on builder, not simply a ticket-driven DevOps resource.
The immediate priorities are to:
- Build and operationalize a self-service infrastructure portal for engineering teams, including security and cost guardrails.
- Stand up an open-source observability stack within a FedRAMP environment.
- Continue improving and automating the existing AWS infrastructure and DevOps processes.
- Clean up legacy AWS accounts/services and begin driving AWS cost optimization.
- Support cloud infrastructure for AI-related workloads as needed.
The existing environment has a solid AWS/Terraform foundation, so the need is for someone who can come in quickly, understand the existing architecture, make sound technical decisions, and independently execute.
Required Skills:
- Senior-level DevOps / Platform Engineering experience
- Strong hands-on AWS experience
- Production experience with Terraform / Infrastructure-as-Code
- Strong GitHub and GitHub Actions experience
- Experience building and supporting CI/CD pipelines
- Experience with observability / monitoring platforms
- Ability to independently design architecture and implement solutions
- Experience with cloud infrastructure, automation, security, and reliability
- Ability to work effectively in a startup / ambiguous environment
- Strong problem-solving and ownership mentality
Bonus / Desired Skills:
- Experience building self-service infrastructure platforms or developer portals
- Kubernetes experience
- Experience with Grafana, Prometheus, and/or OpenTelemetry
- FedRAMP experience
- Experience with SOC 2, HIPAA, HITRUST, or similar compliance frameworks
- Azure experience, particularly Azure OpenAI
- RAG Pipeline Experience and LLM Supporting Infrastructure
- Experience supporting AI/LLM infrastructure or workloads
- FinOps / AWS cost optimization experience
- Startup or zero-to-one platform engineering experience
- Experience with multi-tenant or highly regulated cloud environments
