We're looking for a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our Planning Operations team as a Senior Planning Assistant, specialising in GIS, spatial data improvement, and Local Land Charges.
About the Role
As a Senior Planning Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of planning and property-related services across North Yorkshire. Working within a specialist team, you will provide technical expertise in the management, maintenance, and application of GIS and Local Land Charges data.
You will support customers, colleagues, and external organisations by ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant information is available to inform decision-making, while helping to improve the quality and accessibility of our spatial and property-related data.

The Council's Planning Services play a fundamental role in managing the natural and built environment, ensuring that future development needs can be accommodated to make North Yorkshire a better place in which to live and work.
The Operations Team provides a range of specialist technical services across Planning, Building Control, Land Charges, Street Naming and Numbering, GIS and data management. Through the use of technology, spatial information and strong technical knowledge, the team supports service delivery across one of the largest local authority areas in England.
The Role
As a Senior Planning Assistant specialising in GIS and Land Charges, you will be responsible for maintaining and analysing spatial data, supporting mapping-based services and assisting with the delivery of Local Land Charges functions. You will work closely with colleagues across Planning Services and other Council departments to ensure data accuracy, legislative compliance and excellent customer service.
The role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage a varied workload within a busy and customer-focused environment.
