SENIOR PLANNER

RESOURCE MANAGEMENT

Responsibilities:

Conducts research and surveys, administers and performs collection, interpretation and analysis of data on planning, zoning and development issues. Prepares reports, recommendations and exhibits for presentation to the Planning and Zoning Commission, Board of Adjustments and County Commission, prepares supplemental material for ad hoc advisory groups.

Researches, develops, proposes and administers changes to County zoning and subdivision regulations and Master Plan. Reviews and processes land development, land use, and subdivision proposals for compliance with County Regulations. Prepares and administers grants. Establishes and maintains files, reports, project tracking lists, plans, maps and other materials as required.

Serves as liaison to personnel of other departments and agencies, public bodies, or officials, and civic or professional organizations. Works with consultants to conduct planning studies and develop various planning documents. Acts as supplement zoning enforcement officer/code compliance officer responsible for investigation of zoning violation complaints.

Supervises assigned staff, including assigning and reviewing work, providing training and guidance, and participating in hiring, performance evaluation, and disciplinary recommendations.

Attends, conducts or assists in conducting various meetings, hearings and presentations held before public gatherings, civic and advisory groups, boards, and commissions, occurring during and after regular business hours.

Monitors developments throughout the construction / implementation phase to ensure compliance with County regulations and conditions of approval as established by the Planning & Zoning Commission and County Commission

Conducts field evaluations and assessments.

Provides input to County Stormwater Management program.

Performs all other duties as assigned.

Status:

Full-time, exempt, benefited

Working hours:

8:00 am - 5:00 pm, Monday - Friday; Occasional weekend and outside of business hours work required.

Location:

Columbia, Missouri

Qualifications:

Bachelors Degree in Planning or related field; and four years of experience in planning or engineering design or Masters Degree in related field and two years of experience in planning or engineering. Must be certified through the AICP - American Institute of Certified Planners, or have the ability to obtain certification within two years. Must have a valid drivers license and be able to drive a county vehicle.

Starting Salary Range:

$73,403.20 - $78,686.30
