Senior Piping Designer 
Location: Charleston, WV
Duration: Contract

Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Piping Designer to support nuclear-focused projects through advanced piping design and drafting services. This role requires deep technical expertise, strong coordination skills, and the ability to lead design efforts while ensuring compliance with strict nuclear safety, regulatory, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage assigned piping design scope, including schedules, milestones, and deliverables
  • Support project planning activities, including schedule development and resource alignment
  • Develop staffing plans based on project scope, budget, and timeline
  • Apply project procedures, nuclear quality assurance standards (e.g., NQA-1), and specifications
  • Ensure all designs comply with applicable nuclear codes, standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Define and manage design areas within assigned units or facility zones
  • Maintain project tracking tools, including needs lists and status reports
  • Monitor P&ID Management of Change (MOC) logs and identify scope impacts
  • Utilize 3D modeling tools (PDMS, AVEVA E3D, Navisworks) to monitor design progress and quality
  • Review deliverables prior to Issued for Construction (IFC) for accuracy, compliance, and traceability
  • Coordinate with engineering, QA/QC, and cross-functional teams
  • Implement and maintain deliverable verification processes aligned with nuclear QA standards
  • Participate in design reviews and model evaluations
  • Conduct field walkdowns to verify P&IDs, collect measurements, and identify tie-in points
  • Integrate field data and laser scan/point cloud data into design models
  • Lead piping design efforts for brownfield projects within existing facility constraints

Required Qualifications & Experience:
  • 8–15+ years of piping design experience, including time in a senior or lead role
  • Strong experience with PDMS and/or AVEVA E3D for 3D modeling and drafting
  • Experience working with laser scan and point cloud data for existing facility design
  • Proven ability to model piping systems in brownfield environments
  • Experience preparing and reviewing piping deliverables, including isometrics and layouts
  • Background supporting nuclear facilities or similarly regulated industries
  • Familiarity with nuclear codes and standards (e.g., ASME Section III, B31.1)
  • Experience working within nuclear quality assurance programs (e.g., NQA-1)
  • Understanding of design control, documentation requirements, and nuclear safety culture
  • Experience with P&ID MOC processes and scope change management
  • Strong coordination, communication, and problem-solving skills

Education & Credentials:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or related field; or equivalent experience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with Navisworks, SharePoint, and laser scanning tools preferred
  • Authorization to work in the United States
  • Willingness to work in or relocate to the Charleston, WV area
