Senior Payroll Tax Analyst
On-site in Houston, Texas | Full-Time | $118-$128k, depending on experience
We're seeking a Senior Payroll Tax Analyst to serve as the payroll tax subject matter expert for a complex, multi-jurisdiction payroll environment. This role is responsible for payroll tax compliance, tax setup, reconciliations, year-end reporting, and ensuring payroll tax accuracy across U.S. and Canadian operations.
Key Responsibilities
Support payroll tax compliance across federal, state, local, and Canadian jurisdictions.
Manage tax jurisdiction setup and maintenance to ensure accurate withholding and reporting.
Perform payroll tax reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
Support quarterly and year-end reporting, including W-2, W-2C, and T4 validation.
Assist with payroll tax filings and compliance reporting.
Partner with HRIS and payroll teams to validate tax configurations and calculations.
Investigate payroll tax issues and perform root cause analysis.
Support payroll tax audits, tax notices, and compliance inquiries.
Collaborate with payroll operations and technology teams to ensure accurate payroll outcomes.
Provide payroll tax expertise and support during complex payroll processing periods.
Qualifications
8+ years of payroll experience with a strong focus on payroll tax.
Deep knowledge of federal, state, local, and payroll tax regulations.
Experience with payroll tax reconciliations, filings, and year-end reporting.
Exposure to Canadian payroll tax requirements preferred.
Experience with enterprise payroll systems
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and Excel skills.
