Senior Payroll Specialist

We're partnering with a growing energy company in the North Houston area that's looking to add a Senior Payroll Specialist to its Accounting team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced payroll professional who enjoys managing full-cycle payroll, resolving payroll discrepancies, and ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time in a fast-paced environment.

What You'll Do:

• 
  
• Manage the full-cycle payroll process, ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing
• 
  
• Review and verify employee timekeeping records, hours worked, overtime, and paid time off
• 
  
• Process new hires, terminations, compensation changes, deductions, and payroll adjustments
• 
  
• Research and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee pay inquiries
• 
  
• Review payroll registers and reports to ensure accuracy before payroll submission
• 
  
• Reconcile payroll accounts, tax liabilities, benefits deductions, and general ledger entries
• 
  
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations
• 
  
• Assist with quarterly payroll tax filings, annual reporting, and W-2 preparation
• 
  
• Coordinate with Human Resources and Accounting regarding employee changes and payroll matters
• 
  
• Respond to employee questions regarding paychecks, deductions, and tax withholdings
• 
  
• Maintain accurate payroll records and confidential employee information
• 
  
• Assist with payroll audits, month-end close, and year-end reporting
• 
  
• Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, accuracy, and efficiency
• 
  

What We're Looking For:

• 
  
• 5+ years of progressive payroll processing or payroll administration experience
• 
  
• Strong understanding of full-cycle payroll processes and payroll tax compliance
• 
  
• Experience with payroll reconciliations, reporting, and general ledger entries
• 
  
• Knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll regulations
• 
  
• Experience handling payroll adjustments, deductions, overtime, and employee changes
• 
  
• Multi-state payroll experience is a plus
• 
  
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other standard business applications
• 
  
• Experience with payroll and accounting software; ERP experience is a plus
• 
  
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• 
  
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage confidential information
• 
  
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments
•
