Description
Senior Paralegal, Marketing
Job Description Summary:
Designs for Health is seeking a proactive, business-minded Senior Paralegal, Marketing to work directly with Marketing, Regulatory, Sales, and other business teams. This role helps teams develop and execute marketing and commercial initiatives responsibly, translating established legal and regulatory guidance into practical, actionable feedback.
This is not a conventional attorney-support position. Rather than primarily supporting attorneys’ work product, the Senior Paralegal works collaboratively with the supervising attorney to directly support the business. The successful candidate will independently manage day-to-day matters within established guidelines and delegated authority, engage business partners directly, develop proposed solutions, and drive projects through completion. The supervising attorney provides legal supervision, direction on complex or novel issues, and decisions requiring attorney judgment.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter who takes ownership without waiting for step-by-step instructions, is comfortable working independently, and builds strong relationships across functions. Success requires practical judgment, attention to detail, clear communication, and the confidence to ask questions, offer workable alternatives, and recognize when attorney involvement is needed. Independent execution does not include providing independent legal advice or making legal determinations reserved for the supervising attorney.
Base Pay: $80,000 - $105,000
Key Responsibilities
Serve as a day-to-day point of contact for Marketing, Regulatory, Sales, and other business partners on routine marketing compliance and related commercial matters, working collaboratively with the supervising attorney and the regulatory claims manager to apply established guidance.
- Own day-to-day reviews: Independently coordinate and perform reviews of advertising, product pages, email campaigns, social media, sales materials, practitioner communications, packaging, and other promotional content against established legal guidance and review criteria. Document feedback and route approvals in accordance with delegated authority.
- Engage directly with the business: Work with Marketing, Regulatory, and Sales from concept through launch to clarify objectives, obtain necessary information, resolve routine questions, and develop practical alternatives that address identified concerns.
- Identify claims and substantiation needs: Recognize express and implied health, wellness, nutritional, ingredient, comparative, and performance claims. Coordinate with Regulatory and appropriate scientific personnel to obtain supporting materials and confirm alignment with approved claims and required disclosures.
- Exercise judgment and escalate appropriately: Identify potential advertising, labeling, consumer protection, intellectual property, and privacy issues. Apply established guidance to routine matters and bring novel, complex, or higher-risk issues to the supervising attorney with relevant facts and proposed options.
- Manage legal review workflows: Monitor intake, prioritization, follow-up, and review records; manage competing deadlines; communicate status proactively; and maintain clear documentation of feedback, substantiation, and approvals for the legal review function as it engages through DFH’s cross-functional marketing review platform.
- Support digital marketing and promotions: Review influencer and content creator materials, endorsements, testimonials, sponsorships, and promotions under established guidelines, including disclosure requirements and permissions for third-party content.
- Support privacy and responsible technology use: Identify questions involving consumer information, marketing technologies, and artificial intelligence tools, apply approved guardrails, and coordinate attorney or specialist review as needed.
- Build scalable resources: Develop and maintain checklists, templates, approved-language resources, and business-facing training in collaboration with the supervising attorney and relevant stakeholders.
- Improve processes: Use approved technology and validated AI-assisted tools to streamline research, review, and documentation while protecting confidential information and checking outputs for accuracy.
- Support cross-functional initiatives: Coordinate related projects, including international marketing matters as assigned, with the supervising attorney, Regulatory, and local advisers where appropriate.

Experience & Skills
- 5+ years of relevant paralegal or comparable legal or compliance experience, preferably in-house, including meaningful work in advertising, marketing, consumer products, or related regulatory compliance matters.
- Demonstrated self-direction: Ability to take an assignment from initial intake through completion, identify next steps, gather information, follow up proactively, and deliver high-quality work without close day-to-day supervision.
- Direct business partnership: Experience working directly with non-legal stakeholders, leading routine discussions, communicating actionable feedback, and maintaining productive relationships across functions.
- Sound judgment under attorney supervision: Ability to distinguish matters that can be handled within established guidance from those requiring attorney review, and to escalate with clear facts, focused questions, and proposed solutions.
- Working knowledge of FTC advertising principles, FDA requirements relevant to marketing and labeling, and consumer protection requirements; ability to identify claims, substantiation questions, and disclosure issues.
- Strong drafting, research, and analytical skills, with the ability to translate established legal guidance into clear, practical feedback for business teams.

- Familiarity with dietary supplement structure/function claims, claim substantiation, endorsements, testimonials, and digital marketing practices.
- Experience identifying express and implied health, nutritional, wellness, ingredient, comparative, and performance claims and coordinating supporting documentation.
- Experience managing marketing review workflows, documenting approvals, and maintaining accurate compliance records.
- Experience coordinating cross-functional reviews involving Marketing, Regulatory, Sales, and scientific teams; exposure to Canadian, Australian, or other international marketing review processes is a plus.
