    Work Environment:  Hybrid (4 days in office/1 remote) After ramp up

    JOB DESCRIPTION

     

     

    Our client, a well-regarded international law firm, is seeking a detail-oriented Senior Paralegal to support their team local to either their Los Angeles or Palo Alto offices.

     


    Key Responsibilities

    • Lead and support the drafting, preparation, coordination, and submission of Federal and State Court pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal filings.
    • Provide comprehensive support throughout all stages of the discovery process, including document collection, review, organization, production, and deposition preparation.
    • Assist attorneys and case teams in preparing for and participating in witness interviews, depositions, hearings, trials, and client conferences.
    • Conduct detailed reviews of motions, briefs, pleadings, and related court submissions before filing, including proofreading, cite verification, record validation, exhibit preparation, formatting, and quality control.
    • Oversee and coordinate sophisticated and technically demanding filings, including confidential submissions, sensitive materials, and high-volume electronic filings.
    • Partner with managing law clerks and business services personnel to coordinate filing deadlines, reminders, distribution of case materials, and submission logistics.
    • Execute advanced searches within Relativity and other litigation databases, including document coding, retrieval, categorization, and organization.
    • Create, maintain, and finalize privilege logs, redaction logs, and related discovery documentation.
    • Track and manage multiple deadlines and competing priorities, exercising sound judgment to sequence assignments and delegate responsibilities when appropriate.
    • Contribute to sophisticated projects involving data organization, management, analysis, and reporting.
    • Ensure litigation files are accurately maintained in accordance with department standards, approved protocols, and designated case-management platforms; identify and implement opportunities to enhance electronic file organization, retention, retrieval, and workflow efficiency.
    • Safeguard the accuracy, completeness, confidentiality, and overall integrity of client files and matter records.
    • Perform comprehensive non-legal research using a variety of resources, including the Internet, Westlaw, LexisNexis, PACER, SEC/EDGAR, court websites, media databases, financial research platforms, and other relevant sources to locate statutes, case-related information, articles, books, and other materials.
    • Collaborate with partners, associates, and fellow paralegals across multiple offices in support of large-scale, complex, and multijurisdictional matters.
    • Mentor, coach, advise, and provide constructive feedback to junior paralegals and broader case teams.
    • Foster productive professional relationships through clear, polished, and effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication.
    • Exercise sound judgment and accountability when utilizing Firm resources, technology, personnel, and other operational assets.
    • Maintain consistent and dependable physical attendance in accordance with Firm expectations and business requirements.
    • Understand, follow, and uphold Firm policies, procedures, operational standards, and established practices.
    • Perform additional responsibilities and special projects as assigned.



    Qualifications

    The successful candidate will possess a sophisticated understanding of litigation support, strong organizational capabilities, and the ability to perform effectively in a demanding, deadline-driven legal environment.

    • Strong working knowledge of Federal and State Court rules, procedures, and filing requirements, including applicable civil and criminal rules.
    • Proven experience supporting government investigations, including matters involving the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and Department of Justice (DOJ).
    • Demonstrated expertise in managing sophisticated court submissions, particularly electronic filing and e-filing processes.
    • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including the ability to work effectively with complex data and spreadsheets.
    • Demonstrated ability to navigate and utilize a broad range of electronic databases, litigation platforms, and document-management systems.
    • Practical knowledge of Relativity and other electronic discovery and litigation applications, including Everchron.
    • Familiarity with Firm operations, internal policies, procedures, and established business practices.
    • Proficiency with relevant Firm technology and software applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, along with the ability to quickly adapt to unfamiliar software, applications, and operating environments.
    • Highly developed research capabilities and demonstrated proficiency using resources such as the Internet, Westlaw, LexisNexis, PACER, SEC/EDGAR, court-related websites, media databases, and financial research services.
    • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, troubleshooting, organizational, project-management, and planning abilities.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication capabilities, with the ability to convey information clearly and professionally both verbally and in writing.
    • Proven capacity to work autonomously while also contributing effectively to collaborative, multidisciplinary teams.
    • Demonstrated ownership of assigned matters, projects, responsibilities, and deliverables.
    • Sound judgment when handling confidential, sensitive, proprietary, or otherwise high-risk information.
    • Strong ability to structure, prioritize, and manage a demanding workload.
    • Proven ability to balance numerous assignments, competing deadlines, changing priorities, and evolving business requirements.
    • Comfortable operating in a high-volume, fast-moving, and demanding professional environment.

    • Willingness and ability to travel when business requirements dictate.

    Education & Professional Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
    • At least six years of professional paralegal experience, or equivalent experience in a role requiring comparable knowledge, capabilities, technical proficiency, and expertise.
