We are seeking a Senior Operations Engineer - Cryomechanical with expertise in ERP systems, scheduling, and automation to integrate multiple standalone systems into a cohesive ecosystem.

You will partner with mechanical engineers, supply chain, fabrication partners, system integrators, and leadership teams to deliver high‑quality hardware on aggressive timelines.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end‑to‑end program planning and execution for Cryo-mechanical engineering initiatives, including Cryostat installations, maintenance and upgrades, and associated mechanical designs.

  • Develop and maintain integrated program schedules, critical paths, and risk mitigation plans across internal teams and external suppliers.

  • Develop automated processes which minimize overhead while still providing robust scheduling, record keeping and inventory management.

  • Introduce tools, dashboards, and reporting mechanisms that improve predictability, traceability, and engineering throughput.

  • Propose, design, build and deliver solutions that transform large raw data sets into actionable insights and support on-going operational usage.

  • Develop tactical schedules that coordinate simultaneous operations, anticipate coverage gaps, and enable leadership to address them proactively.

Qualifications

Required/minimum qualifications

  • Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 3+ years technical engineering experience
  • OR Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 5+ years technical engineering experience
  • OR equivalent experience

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screening

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

  • Citizenship & Citizenship Verification: This role will require access to information that is controlled for export under export control regulations, potentially under the U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or Export Administration Regulations (EAR), the EU Dual Use Regulation, and/or other export control regulations. As a condition of employment, the successful candidate will be required to provide either proof of their country of citizenship or proof of their U.S. permanent residency or other protected status (e.g., under 8 U.S.C. § 1324b(a)(3)) for assessment of eligibility to access the export-controlled information. To meet this legal requirement, and as a condition of employment, the successful candidate's citizenship will be verified with a valid passport. Additional or preferred qualifications

  • Doctorate in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 3+ years technical engineering experience

  • OR Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience

  • OR Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience OR equivalent experience

  • 6+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.

  • 1+ year(s) of experience reading and/or writing code (e.g., sample documentation, product demos).

  • Ability to leverage artificial intelligence (AI) tools to drive innovation and efficiency (e.g., measurement, performance modeling and analysis, research gathering, day-to-day task automation).

  • Ability to work in an "AI-first" environment using modern AI tools to accelerate discovery through hardware development.

  • Experience building project schedules, managing budgets, planning resources, and partnering across matrixed teams.

  • Ability to establish clear communication channels, technical deliverables, and accountability structures with vendors and facilitating collaboration with internal engineering teams.

  • Experience collaborating with engineering leads to define and implement best‑in‑class workflows for design reviews, DFM/DFT validation, and manufacturing readiness.

  • Experience implementing or creating systems and reports to track equipment configurations across sites, identify available resources, and forecast future needs.
