The Position

Napa County Health and Human Service is seeking an experienced Senior Office Assistant, Bilingual Spanish required, for Behavioral Health Division.

This is the advanced level of the Office Assistant series. This class is distinguished from the Office Assistant II level by the range, difficulty, and complexity of work performed, the exercise of a significant degree of independent judgment and responsibility, and/or by the functional, lead supervision of lower level clerical positions. Positions assigned to the class of Senior Office Assistant apply specialized and advanced level knowledge and abilities in the area to which assigned, and may serve in a lead role in a small or specialized office having one or two clerical staff.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Experience and Education

To qualify for this classification, an individual must possess the following combination of experience and education that would likely produce the required knowledge, skills and abilities. A desirable combination is:

Experience:

Three years of significant, directly related and progressive general clerical experience.

Education:

Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade, supplemented by specialized clerical training.

License or Certificate*:

Certain positions assigned to this class may require possession of a valid California Drivers License.

  • Any license, certification, or registration required for this position shall be maintained (i.e. active and in good standing) at all times during employment with Napa County. For continued employment with Napa County, you must maintain such license, certification, or registration to meet the minimum qualifications of this position. Loss of the required State licensure may result in termination or reassignment.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

Bilingual skills are required for this position. Applicants will be required to take and pass a bilingual Spanish Level I exam.

This recruitment is being conducted to fill 1 (one) full-time vacancy. The list established by this recruitment may also be used to fill future full-time, part-time, limited term, and extra help vacancies for up to one year.

Salaries are based on a five-step range. Appointments are usually made at the beginning step with advances occurring at six months and the completion of each year thereafter. Salary rates are reviewed annually.
