Job Title: Senior Network Engineer

Location(s): Whippany, NJ
(Hybrid: 2 to 3 days per week onsite)


Job Summary
We are seeking a Senior Network Solutions Engineer with strong experience designing and delivering mid- to large-scale enterprise network solutions. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise across routing, switching, firewalls, load balancing, data center networking, and cloud/virtualization technologies.

This role will work within a Connectivity Delivery Center supporting Core Network initiatives and will be responsible for translating business and technical requirements into secure, scalable, and standards-compliant network solutions. The engineer will collaborate with project managers, architects, engineering teams, internal stakeholders, and external vendors to drive projects through successful delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design mid- to large-scale network solutions aligned with enterprise architecture and infrastructure strategy.
  • Develop detailed Low-Level Designs (LLDs) in collaboration with Project Managers and engineering teams.
  • Ensure network designs comply with established architecture, engineering standards, policies, and infrastructure strategy.
  • Own the end-to-end delivery of assigned network infrastructure projects and technical tasks.
  • Collaborate effectively with global and virtual teams operating within complex network environments.
  • Work with designers, Project Service Architects, Architecture, Governance & Standards teams, and other stakeholders to influence and implement architecture and policy changes.
  • Provide technical input into infrastructure strategy, standards, and policies.
  • Support Network Engineering leadership in aligning infrastructure initiatives with the strategic technology roadmap.
  • Work with internal stakeholders and external vendors to achieve project objectives.
  • Identify, manage, and escalate project risks, technical issues, and dependencies in a timely manner.
  • Provide accurate estimates for workload, resources, and delivery timelines.
  • Contribute to risk management and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and mandatory organizational policies.
  • Address audit findings and provide appropriate technical assurance.
  • Ensure infrastructure strategies balance business requirements, technical capabilities, and budget constraints.
  • Apply strong analytical and problem-solving skills to resolve complex technical issues and prevent project delays.
  • Ensure all activities comply with enterprise risk management frameworks, regulatory requirements, and internal policies and standards.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience designing mid- to large-scale enterprise network solutions.
  • Ability to consolidate technical expertise from multiple teams into cohesive end-to-end solutions.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to explain complex technical solutions clearly.
  • Experience working within virtual/global teams and complex enterprise network environments.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of enterprise network infrastructure, including:
    • Data networks
    • Firewalls
    • Load balancers
    • Data center networking
  • Strong knowledge of routing protocols, including:
    • EIGRP
    • OSPF
    • BGP
  • Hands-on experience with Cisco technologies, including:
    • Cisco ACI
    • Cisco Nexus
    • Cisco Firepower
    • Cisco ASA
  • Strong expertise with F5 BIG-IP load balancers.
  • Experience with VMware and AWS networking/virtualization environments.
  • Hands-on experience with Fortinet technologies, including:
    • FortiGate
    • FortiManager
    • FortiAnalyzer
  • Experience with Cisco ASA firewalls.
  • Familiarity with Juniper and Check Point firewalls.
  • Experience with automation and scripting technologies such as:
    • Python
    • Ansible
    • Shell scripting
  • Understanding of change management processes.
  • ITIL process awareness, particularly Change, Incident, and Problem Management.
  • Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving capabilities.

  • Cisco CCIE or CCNP – Routing & Switching / Security
  • Fortinet FCNSA
  • F5 CTS-LTM
  • F5 CTS-GTM

The successful candidate will be a technically strong network engineer/solutions engineer who can operate at both the design and delivery levels. The candidate should be comfortable taking ownership of complex infrastructure initiatives, coordinating across multiple technical teams, working with vendors, and communicating effectively with both technical and business stakeholders.
