Quantum Sky is seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer to support a long-term federal program responsible for the engineering, operations, and modernization of mission-critical enterprise infrastructure. This highly visible position will support a complex environment spanning hundreds of locations and multiple security domains, including classified, Secret, and Top Secret networks. The Senior Network Engineer will serve as a key technical contributor responsible for the architecture, engineering, testing, deployment, and operational support of enterprise network infrastructure.

This is an opportunity to join an established program of approximately 50 developers, infrastructure and engineering professionals supporting the customer's complete technology environment, including networking, systems, VDI, hosting, storage, security, and application infrastructure. The program provides a stable, long-term environment with opportunities for professional growth and advancement.

 

Responsibilities:

 

Network Engineering & Architecture

  • Design, maintain, and evolve large-scale enterprise network architectures supporting hundreds of geographically distributed locations and centralized infrastructure services.
  • Engineer, configure, and troubleshoot advanced routing and switching environments across Cisco and Juniper platforms, including OSPF, BGP, IPsec VPNs, GRE tunnels, and dynamic VPN technologies.
  • Engineer and support hub-and-spoke network architectures, including routers, core and distribution switches, firewalls, ACLs, and encrypted network connections.
  • Support network connectivity across the broader enterprise infrastructure, including server, VMware, VDI, storage, cloud, and end-user environments.
  • Contribute network engineering expertise to cloud, hybrid-cloud, modernization, and other customer technology roadmap initiatives.

 

Implementation, Operations & Troubleshooting

  • Perform hands-on network equipment configuration, staging, testing, installation, rack integration, and production deployment.
  • Develop and execute lab testing for advanced routing, switching, security, and configuration changes prior to production implementation.
  • Troubleshoot complex network and connectivity issues, perform root cause analysis, and develop permanent resolutions while minimizing risk to production availability.
  • Evaluate and implement network changes in accordance with established change management, testing, validation, and rollback procedures.
  • Collaborate with COMSEC and security teams to support secure communications, Type 1 encryption devices, and networks operating across multiple security levels.

 

Technical Leadership & Documentation

  • Serve as a senior technical resource for complex network architecture, engineering, and troubleshooting efforts.
  • Collaborate with network, systems, virtualization, storage, cloud, and cybersecurity engineers to ensure reliable and secure operation of the overall infrastructure.
  • Develop and maintain network architecture, configurations, engineering standards, technical requirements, and system documentation in accordance with federal standards.
  • Identify architectural and operational improvements and provide technical recommendations supporting O&M, modernization, and new customer initiatives.
Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 8 years of professional experience, including at least 6 years of directly relevant network engineering experience supporting complex enterprise environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree. A Master’s degree may be substituted for four years of general work experience.
  • Advanced hands-on experience with enterprise routing and switching, including OSPF, BGP, IPsec VPNs, GRE tunneling, and dynamic VPN architectures.
  • Experience engineering, configuring, and troubleshooting Cisco and Juniper routers, switches, firewalls, and ACLs in production environments.
  • Experience supporting large, geographically distributed enterprise networks, including architecture, testing, implementation, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.
  • Experience with VMware and Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) environments and the network services required to support virtualized end-user computing.
  • Experience with secure and encrypted network communications, including KG-175/TACLANE or similar Type 1 encryption technologies.
  • Strong technical communication, documentation, and collaboration skills with the ability to work across network, systems, cybersecurity, COMSEC, virtualization, and cloud engineering teams.

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Advanced Cisco or Juniper networking certification.
  • Experience with cloud computing, hybrid-cloud networking, and infrastructure modernization, including integrating cloud and on-premises environments within federal or highly regulated environments.
  • Experience designing or supporting secure connectivity between on-premises enterprise infrastructure and cloud environments.
  • Experience supporting enterprise infrastructure spanning hundreds of geographically distributed sites.

 

Clearance: An active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility is required.

 

Location and Schedule: This position is onsite at the customer location in Washington, DC. The environment requires onsite support five days per week, with some flexibility in scheduling based on program and customer requirements. Core business hours are 8am-4pm.

Compensation:

  • Compensation is unique to each candidate and relative to the skills and experience they bring to the position. The salary range for this position is typically between $145,000-$165,000. This does not guarantee a specific salary as compensation is based upon multiple factors such as education, experience, certifications, and other requirements, and may fall outside of the above-stated range.
