Job Purpose:

Ensures resilient and reliable 24/7 support for OUC's corporate network health and operations including applications, databases, and OUC customers. Tests network equipment changes. Monitors and

trouble-shoots the network. Identifies end of life/end of support equipment in advance and recommends new models. Configures and installs switches, firewalls, and routers. Manages network related projects, budgets and stakeholders.

Primary Functions:

  • Design, deploy and manage the corporate networks (LAN, WLAN, WAN);
  • Configure and install software, servers, routers, and other network devices;
  • Test changes to the Network environment (operating system patches, cybersecurity modifications, and upgrades) on the Test Network Lab prior to promoting changes to production;
  • Monitor network performance and integrity of switches, next generation firewalls, load balancers, and routers using network monitoring, SIEM and other tools;
  • Resolve issues that tiers of support have escalated by troubleshooting cloud and local infrastructure;
  • Automate tasks and monitor their effectiveness;
  • Mentor and train mid-level and associate-level team members on technical issues;
  • Create, oversee, and test security measures (e.g., access authentication and disaster recovery);
  • Maintain complete technical documentation network configurations using detailed architecture diagrams;
  • Identify forthcoming end of life equipment and recommend replacement models;
  • Maintain an Inventory of all Test and Production Network equipment, including salvage;
  • Coordinate with IT staff and support staff managing other business unit networks (Supervisory control and data acquisition [SCADA] systems, Water Production);
  • Stays abreast of developments in the industry and brings recommendations for improvements in design and support of network infrastructure;
  • Serves as project lead for projects impacting OUC networks including vendor management and budgeting for projects;
  • Adds to repository of best practices and knowledge for training and reference needs;
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
