We are seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer to play a crucial role in designing and developing our customer's expanding global network. This will initially be a contract position to help address a staffing gap due to a current team member being out for an indefinite duration. Your focus would involve internetworking sites and services that rely on TCP/IP transport, with particular attention to OSI model layers 2 and 3.


Job Responsibilities

  • Network Design and Support: Design and ensure the resilience of layer 2/3 networks connecting all universal locations, promoting responsive connectivity.
  • Global Connectivity: Collaborate with the engineers, mission partners, and non-IT personnel to establish ground station connectivity worldwide.
  • Distributed Workforce Solutions: Develop secure and reliable solutions catering to a distributed workforce.
  • Real-time Network Monitoring: Monitor the network for potential issues and respond promptly to maintain optimal performance.


Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Enterprise Network Expertise: A minimum of 10 years' experience supporting enterprise networks and/or industrial control systems.
  • Detail-Oriented: Strong attention to detail and a commitment to thorough documentation.
  • Analytical Thinking: Demonstrated aptitude for critical thinking and proficiency in fault-tree analysis.
  • Security Focus: A solid understanding of encryption and authentication methods.
  • Network Skills: CCNA or equivalent experience working with switches, firewalls (Fortigate), routers, and supporting OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, MPLS, and SD-WAN networks.
  • Advanced Certification: CCNP certification or equivalent experience showcasing your advanced networking knowledge.
  • Project Management: Experience with project management and familiarity with the system development lifecycle.
  • Monitoring Systems: Proficiency in managing SNMP monitoring systems such as Icinga, SolarWinds, and PRTG.
  • Data Center Exposure: Background working in a co-lo datacenter environment.
  • Systems Administration: Experience supporting and administering Windows, Linux, ESXi, and Active Directory.
  • Network Security: SSCP certification or equivalent experience fortifying layer 3 networks is a big PLUS.
  • Industry Connections: Existing relationships with ISPs and co-location providers are advantageous.
