Position OverviewWe are seeking an experienced
Senior .NET/SQL Technical Lead to provide hands-on technical leadership for a large-scale application and database modernization initiative.
This position combines
.NET/C# backend development, advanced SQL Server engineering, microservices architecture, API integration, Azure SQL, and Azure Data Factory (ADF). The Technical Lead will play a key role in transforming a legacy, monolithic application and database environment into a modern, microservices-aligned architecture.
This is a hands-on technical leadership role, not a purely managerial one. The ideal candidate will be comfortable leading technical design discussions, developing and reviewing code, modernizing complex SQL environments, guiding experienced engineers, and collaborating across application development, database, QA, DevOps, cloud, and business teams.
Key Responsibilities
Lead collaborative technical design discussions involving microservices architecture, database modernization, API integration, and application design.
Provide hands-on SQL Server engineering, including database schema modernization, stored procedures, views, indexing, query optimization, and performance tuning.
Help decompose legacy monolithic database structures into modern schemas aligned with microservice boundaries.
Design, develop, and support .NET/C# backend services and REST APIs, including application services, integrations, and data-access components.
Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and direction to senior developers and engineering team members.
Participate in architecture discussions and help establish technical standards and modernization approaches.
Design and develop Azure Data Factory (ADF) pipelines supporting ETL, data migration, and transformation workloads.
Develop migration logic and strategies for transitioning data from legacy environments to modernized platforms.
Work with Azure SQL environments, including SQL Server running within Azure IaaS/VM environments.
Participate in code reviews, technical documentation reviews, solution-design reviews, and technical decision-making.
Collaborate with project leadership, technical SMEs, .NET and SQL developers, business analysts, QA, DevOps, and cloud engineering teams.
Identify technical risks, dependencies, performance concerns, and architectural challenges and help drive them toward resolution.
Ensure modernization efforts align with established security, compliance, data-retention, and audit requirements.
Support secure data-handling practices and compliance requirements within regulated environments.
Contribute to Agile ceremonies, planning activities, technical estimation, and overall project delivery.
Promote engineering best practices and help maintain consistent technical direction across the modernization initiative.

3+ years of experience with Azure SQL, including SQL Server hosted within Azure IaaS/VM environments.
Experience designing, developing, or supporting REST APIs and backend services.
Experience modernizing legacy applications and databases into more scalable, service-oriented architectures.
Strong understanding of relational database architecture, data-access patterns, and application integration.
Experience participating in technical design, architecture, code review, and engineering decision-making.
Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and analytical skills.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
