Position Overview
The Mississippi Department of Human Services (MDHS) is seeking an experienced Senior Natural/ADABAS Developer to join its development and support team.
The selected candidate will support, enhance, and maintain the statewide SNAP/TANF Eligibility Determination System. Responsibilities include developing system enhancements, integrating the eligibility system with applications on other platforms, and automating existing processes.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 10+ years of programming experience with Natural and ADABAS, including running Natural processes in batch using JCL and/or SCL, as well as online processing.
- Experience analyzing, designing, and programming large or complex development projects on IBM Mainframe/Linux systems.
- 4+ years of experience with automated eligibility determination systems.
- 3+ years of experience providing subject matter expertise on system architectures.
- 3+ years of experience recommending system and process enhancements.
- 3+ years of experience developing, maintaining, and updating procedures, policies, and process documentation.
- 2+ years of knowledge of SNAP and TANF eligibility, economic assistance policies and procedures, and applicable state and federal mandates, including systems similar to Mississippi's MAVS.
- 2+ years of experience interpreting, designing, and implementing federal and state mandates in Linux systems such as MAVS.
- 2+ years of experience promoting system notices from testing environments through production.

- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Excellent time management, presentation, and facilitation skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively to complete projects and resolve technical issues.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to develop creative solutions.
- Experience with Scrum/Agile iteration methodologies.
- Experience with Jira Software.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience modernizing or converting outdated technologies to newer platforms.
