Description

Role Summary: We are seeking an experienced Senior MQ Engineer to design, implement, and maintain robust IBM MQ infrastructure that enables reliable and efficient messaging communication for critical federal operations.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, implement, and maintain comprehensive IBM MQ infrastructure, including queue managers, channels, queues, and related MQ objects.
  • Configure and manage MQ clustering, multi-instance queue managers, and high availability solutions to guarantee message reliability and fault tolerance.
  • Monitor and analyze MQ performance metrics, identify bottlenecks, optimize configurations, and tune settings to enhance overall system efficiency.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to application developers, assisting in the seamless integration of applications with MQ messaging.
  • Ensure the security and integrity of the MQ infrastructure by implementing appropriate access controls, encryption, and auditing mechanisms.
  • Perform capacity planning and forecasting to ensure long-term scalability and performance of the MQ infrastructure.
  • Research the latest IBM MQ versions, patches, and industry best practices to make informed recommendations for system upgrades and improvements.
  • Document technical configurations, operating procedures, and troubleshooting steps for the complete MQ environment.
Requirements & Qualifications:
  • Clearance: Must possess an active Secret security clearance.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 to 12 years of relevant professional work experience in a related engineering field.
  • Operating Systems: Minimum of 5 years of hands-on Unix experience.
  • Automation & Infrastructure: Minimum of 5 years of DevOps or Infrastructure as Code (IaC) experience.
  • Communication: Native or bilingual proficiency in English.
  • Availability & Operations: Willing and able to meet on-call requirements, including participation in a rotational on-call schedule to support geographically diverse, mission-critical operations.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (or equivalent experience) and certification as an IBM System Administrator for MQ.
