About This Role
The DC Office of the Chief Technology Officer (OCTO) is modernizing the DC Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Mobile Application (Destiny) with cloud, data analytics, AI, and mobile capabilities. OCTO seeks a Senior Mobile Architect to architect, design, and develop iOS and Android applications integrated with Mobile Backend as a Service (MBaaS) using the Java API for RESTful Web Services (JAX-RS), supporting continuous feature release and stronger data security.
Responsibilities
Architect, design, and develop mobile applications in iOS and Android integrated with Mobile Backend as a Service (MBaaS)
Build integrations using the Java API for RESTful Web Services (JAX-RS) architecture
Support modernization of the DC DMV Mobile Application (Destiny) using cloud, data analytics, AI, and mobile capabilities
Develop strong core Java back-end services and enterprise mobile features for continuous release
Apply Spring Boot, Spring Integration, and Spring Web Services across the application stack
Build and deploy container-based applications (OpenShift) and manage builds with Maven and Git
Operate across Tomcat/Jetty/Undertow application servers in a Linux environment, strengthening overall data security
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in IT or related field (or equivalent); Master-level position requiring 16 years of work experience
12 plus years of core Java development with strong back-end skills; 15 plus years of backend system design and architecture
7 plus years of enterprise mobile application development (iOS and Android)
10 plus years of Spring Boot, Spring (Java Config, DI, Autowiring), Spring Integration, and Spring Web Services
Omnichannel MADP experience across form factors (NFC, BLE, IR); Maven builds and Git version control
Experience with Tomcat/Jetty/Undertow, Linux, and OpenShift container-based development and deployment
Able to work 100% onsite in Washington, DC and interview in person
Desired: JIRA issue tracker; CI/CD practices
