Opportunity OverviewAs a Senior Medical Communications Writer on the Medical Affairs, North America team, you will be responsible for researching, writing, and editing scientific publications and communications materials that advance the understanding of rare MC4R pathway diseases and support Rhythm’s medical communications objectives. You will serve as a key contributor to manuscript development, congress activities, publication project management, and scientific communications initiatives, partnering closely with Medical Affairs North America, Global Scientific Communications, Value & Evidence and other cross-functional partners, as well as external authors.
Responsibilities and Duties- Draft, edit, and coordinate development of manuscripts, abstracts, posters, review articles, proceedings papers, case reports, and scientific presentations
- Help manage publication projects from concept through publication, ensuring adherence to timelines, quality standards, and publication best practices
- Support congress planning and execution including abstract submissions, poster development, oral presentations, and other publication-related activities
- Participate in publication planning activities and support implementation of publication strategy and evidence dissemination plans
- Collaborate with cross functional partners to ensure scientific alignment and effective dissemination of evidence
- Ensure compliance with Good Publication Practice (GPP), ICMJE recommendations, company policies, and applicable industry standards
Qualifications and Skills- BS/BA in scientific discipline preferred, advanced degree is a plus
- 6+ years of related experience, across any combination of key focus areas: medical publications, medical affairs and project management, with at least 2 years focused on publications in a pharmaceutical/biotech environment
- Experience in obesity or rare diseases is preferred
- Proven scientific writing skills, particularly experience with developing scientific peer-reviewed publications
- Understanding of drug development, clinical research, study design, biostatistics, pharmacology, and medical terminology
- Exceptional collaboration, written, and verbal communication skills. Comfortable partnering with co-authors (both internally with Global Scientific Communications and Clinical Operations teams and externally with HCPs)
- Ability to independently resolve document content issues and address questions by resolving discrepancies
- Proficiency with literature databases, reference management tools (e.g., EndNote), Microsoft Office, and publication management systems (e.g., iEnvision)
- Strong project management and organizational skills
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to scientific quality and accuracy
- Ability to work independently, prioritize, and multitask within a highly dynamic environment to meet timelines under evolving conditions
- High learning agility, adaptable to change and proactive in identifying opportunities to create and enhance existing programs and processes
This role is based out of our corporate office in Boston, Massachusetts. Rhythm operates in a hybrid-work model. Candidates applying must be willing and able to be in the Boston office in coordination with their department and business needs.This role may involve some travel.The expected salary range for this position is $135,000 - $215,000. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, level, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and company performance.
