The ideal candidate will have strong experience at all stages of the product development lifecycle from concept to long-term support as part of an integrated team of hardware and software engineers. Qualifications
BS or MS in Electrical Engineering or similar (e.g. Mechatronics, Computer, Mechanical, Robotics Engineering, Physics). Six or more years of related work experience in industries such as material handling, process automation, piece part automation or semiconductor industry. Demonstrated experience bringing industrial automation systems into production and supporting them throughout their lifecycle. Significant experience with:
Supporting functionally safe electromechanical systems compliant with harmonized risk assessment and hazard analysis standards. PLC coding of automation systems for industrial control environments. Ideally within Siemen's TIA Portal using SCL, LAD, FBD. Controls orchestration of motor driven roller (MDR) conveyor systems. Design selection and integration of COTS sensors and drives into complex machinery
Equipment such as photo-eyes, proximity sensors, barcode scanners. Various motor architectures in the power range of 50W-3kW. VFD Drives, robot arms.
Designing industrial communications networks and distributed I/O such as Ethernet-IP, Profinet, ASi and IO-Link. Debug of complex devices using design documents, first principles analysis, and basic electrical tools (e.g. multimeters, oscilloscopes, thermal sensors)
Additional experience or working knowledge in:
Good source control practices using git. Exposure to CI/CD concepts and build automation. Practical data analysis to drive engineering focus and debug. API definition for control systems interface with higher level software. Developing and maintaining electrical designs in AutoCAD or AutoCAD Electrical.
