Job Description

Lead the mechanical design and development of next-generation detection and source technologies. Create innovative concepts, prototypes, and production-ready solutions for complex mechanical assemblies. Produce 3D CAD models, detailed engineering drawings, and technical documentation. Conduct design reviews, risk assessments, tolerance analyses, and manufacturability evaluations. Support product qualification activities including environmental, reliability, vibration, thermal, and lifecycle testing. Drive successful transition of products from development into full-scale manufacturing. Provide technical ownership of existing products and support ongoing production activities. Investigate product, supplier, and manufacturing issues and implement effective corrective actions. Manage engineering changes and lead initiatives focused on performance, quality, reliability, and cost improvements. Design manufacturing tooling, fixtures, test equipment, and assembly aids that improve efficiency and product quality. Partner closely with manufacturing teams to optimize throughput, repeatability, and process capability. Develop validation protocols, documentation, and work instructions. Mentor junior engineers and technicians while providing technical leadership across cross-functional teams. Collaborate with global engineering, operations, quality, and supply chain functions to support business objectives.

The Successful Applicant

At least 8 years of mechanical engineering experience. Strong proficiency with 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Inventor, or equivalent platforms. Expertise in mechanical design, materials selection, structural analysis, thermal management, and manufacturing processes. Experience designing production tooling, fixtures, and test systems. Strong troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and problem-solving capabilities. Hands-on prototyping, laboratory testing, and validation experience. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams. Demonstrated capability to leverage AI-enabled tools responsibly to improve productivity and decision-making.
