About the Role

The Senior Mechanical Engineer leads projects from inception to completion, including mechanical and plumbing system design and junior staff mentorship. This role requires managing project schedules, interfacing with clients, and delivering high-quality engineering solutions. The position demands strong project management capabilities and technical expertise.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical and plumbing systems independently.
• Prepare and revise documentation across various project phases.
• Manage and execute mechanical engineering deliverables across multiple projects in a dynamic work environment.
• Develop project scope, budgets, and design approaches for projects of varying complexity.
• Review equipment data sheets, evaluate contractor submittals, and advise on impacts to scope, schedule, and budget.
• Conduct quality assurance and control on personal and peer projects.
• Assist in creating new standards and specifications for the mechanical engineering group.
• Maintain knowledge of industry trends and recommend changes to approaches and client services.
• Participate in client, vendor, and contractor project requirement meetings, value analysis sessions, and cost estimating activities.
• Lead the preparation and coordination of project specifications and related documents.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in Florida or ability to attain reciprocity.
• Minimum of 7+ years of mechanical engineering and design experience, including HVAC, Plumbing, Fire Protection, Boilers, Chillers, and Central Heating (CH) systems.
• Project experience in designing Mechanical/HVAC systems for various industries.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and energy or load simulation software.
• Strong understanding of mechanical systems, components, and design principles.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and engineering data.
• Strong project management and organizational skills.
• Ability to exercise critical thinking and independent judgment.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to effectively multi-task and adhere to project schedules and budgets.
• Detail oriented, quality conscious, reliable, and self-motivated.
• Valid state-issued driver's license with a clean driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

• Proficiency in mechanical design software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Revit, or similar tools.
• Proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with Deltek VantagePoint and Smartsheet or similar platforms.
• Flexibility in work schedule to accommodate project deadlines.
