Senior Mechanical Engineer | HVAC Design | Design-Build Projects

A growing engineering group supporting large-scale commercial and industrial projects is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead design efforts and drive project execution.

This role is ideal for someone who wants to be hands-on in design while also influencing project direction, mentoring junior engineers, and working directly with clients. You’ll be involved from early concept through construction, with a focus on delivering efficient, high-performing mechanical systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead mechanical design for HVAC and piping systems across commercial and industrial projects
• Perform load calculations, system sizing, and airflow analysis to support design decisions
• Select equipment and develop system layouts with a focus on efficiency, cost, and long-term performance
• Prepare and review drawings, specifications, submittals, and cost estimates
• Ensure designs meet applicable codes and standards (ASHRAE, NFPA, etc.)
• Support construction phases including installation review, commissioning, and troubleshooting
• Collaborate with clients, project teams, and field personnel to align design with project goals
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to overall team development

What You Bring:

• 8+ years of experience in mechanical design or design-build environments
• Strong background in HVAC system design; piping/plumbing experience is a plus
• Ability to take projects from concept through completion
• Proficiency with design tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, Trane Trace, or Carrier HAP
• Solid understanding of codes, standards, and best practices in mechanical design
• Strong communication skills and ability to work across teams and with clients
• PE license preferred (or on track)
