    Senior Mechanical Engineer
    HIGHLIGHTS

    Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to provide mechanical engineering expertise within a heavy industrial manufacturing plant. This individual will lead capital projects involving new machinery, equipment upgrades, and plant improvements ranging from $50, 000 to $5 million.

    The ideal candidate has experience with heavy industrial plant engineering, capital project management, Autodesk Inventor, Autodesk Vault, machine installations, Factory Acceptance Testing, and equipment commissioning.
    Key Responsibilities
    Capital Project Management
    • Lead mechanical engineering projects involving new machine installations, equipment upgrades, and plant improvements.
    • Manage capital projects ranging from approximately $50, 000 to $5 million, ensuring they are completed accurately, on time, and within budget.
    • Analyze project requirements, design parameters, and engineering challenges to develop effective solutions.
    • Coordinate project workflows and manage internal resources, equipment vendors, and external contractors.

    Mechanical Engineering & Design
    • Serve as the mechanical engineering lead through all project phases, including design, fabrication, implementation, testing, commissioning, and daily operation.
    • Develop and manage engineering drawings using AutoCAD Mechanical, Autodesk Inventor, and Autodesk Vault.
    • Create and finalize designs that meet the project scope of work, engineering standards, and safety requirements.
    • Develop and manage Bills of Materials and spare-parts requirements.

    Equipment Installation & Commissioning
    • Work closely with vendors and external contractors during equipment fabrication and installation.
    • Lead machine Factory Acceptance Testing, machine start-up, and commissioning activities.
    • Support newly installed or upgraded equipment through implementation and daily operation.
    • Identify and resolve mechanical design, installation, and operational issues.

    Safety & Risk Management
    • Conduct project and equipment risk assessments.
    • Develop and implement equipment safety countermeasures.
    • Ensure all applicable safety objectives, regulatory standards, and legal requirements are followed.
    • Promote safe engineering and equipment-handling practices throughout each project.

    Continuous Improvement & Plant Support
    • Provide technical support to internal plant customers and operational teams.
    • Lead continuous-improvement and corrective-action projects.
    • Monitor and evaluate existing systems, processes, equipment, and technologies.
    • Recommend modifications and enhancements that improve safety, quality, reliability, and operational efficiency.
    Work Environment
    • Approximately 80% of the workday is spent on the production floor, 10% working at a desk or computer, and 10% attending meetings.
    • The production-floor environment includes high temperatures, elevated noise levels, moving equipment, and heavy machinery.
    • Hearing protection and other required personal protective equipment must be worn in designated areas.
    Required Qualifications
    • Mechanical engineering experience within a heavy industrial plant or manufacturing environment.
    • Experience managing capital projects valued up to approximately $5 million.
    • Experience with new machinery installations and equipment upgrades.
    • Proficiency with AutoCAD Mechanical, Autodesk Inventor 3D modeling, and Autodesk Vault.
    • Experience developing and managing engineering drawings and Bills of Materials.
    • Experience with machine FAT, start-up, and commissioning.
    • Experience conducting equipment risk assessments and implementing safety countermeasures.
    • Experience managing equipment vendors and external contractors.
    • Ability to work onsite in Graniteville, South Carolina.
    • Ability to spend approximately 80% of the workday in a heavy industrial production environment.
    • Must be authorized to work in the United States without employment sponsorship.
