    Description

    Our client is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the design and development of precision CNC grinding equipment. This position offers hands-on ownership of complex machinery projects, from initial concept and detailed engineering through assembly, testing, and commissioning. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams, guide junior engineers, and develop mechanical solutions that improve machine accuracy, reliability, and performance while meeting customer expectations and project deadlines.

    Responsibilities
    • Lead mechanical design projects for precision CNC grinding machines, translating customer requirements into practical engineering solutions.
    • Design complex mechanical systems and components, including spindles, bearings, linear motion systems, dressing mechanisms, and machine structures.
    • Develop detailed 3D models, assemblies, manufacturing drawings, and bills of materials using SolidWorks.
    • Apply engineering analysis and simulation techniques to evaluate component performance, structural integrity, and durability.
    • Improve machine precision and efficiency by addressing thermal behavior, vibration, component longevity, and overall system performance.
    • Coordinate design reviews and communicate technical concepts, project progress, and engineering decisions to internal stakeholders.
    • Partner with electrical and applications engineers to ensure proper integration of mechanical systems, CNC controls, and machine functionality.
    • Oversee prototype development, assembly, and testing, incorporating findings into design refinements.
    • Provide technical troubleshooting during machine assembly, installation, commissioning, and field service activities.
    • Mentor junior engineers, review technical drawings, and promote sound engineering practices and design standards.
    • Coordinate with purchasing, suppliers, and customers to resolve technical issues and support project execution.
    • Develop project schedules, manage engineering deliverables, and maintain progress against cost and delivery targets.
    • Identify opportunities to simplify manufacturing, reduce equipment costs, improve quality, and streamline engineering processes.
    • Travel to customer and supplier locations as needed.


    Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or 10+ years of equivalent industry experience.
    • Minimum 5 years of hands-on mechanical design experience involving industrial machinery or capital equipment, particularly CNC grinding machines or comparable precision equipment.
    • Proficiency in SolidWorks for 3D modeling, assemblies, detailed drawings, and bill of materials development; familiarity with AutoCAD 2D.
    • Working knowledge of finite element analysis (FEA), machine tool systems, mechanical engineering principles, and design for manufacturability.
    • Ability to independently manage complex engineering assignments, solve technical challenges, and coordinate multiple project priorities.
