We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer Building Services for a permanent opportunity with our client in Appleton, WI. This position is responsible for the design and engineering of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems for new facilities, facility expansions, and upgrades to existing systems.
The Senior Mechanical Engineer will serve as a Discipline Lead on multidisciplinary projects, leading engineers and designers through conceptual planning, feasibility studies, detailed design, and construction. This role will also perform site investigations, develop engineering recommendations, and oversee the quality and completion of construction drawings, specifications, calculations, reports, and other project documentation.
Serve as Lead Mechanical Engineer for small and large multidisciplinary projects, managing assigned engineering and design resources with responsibility for quality, budget, and schedule.
Lead building systems engineering from conceptual and feasibility phases through detailed design and construction.
Establish project scope, mechanical design approach, budgets, schedules, and engineering requirements.
Design HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems for a variety of industrial and commercial facilities.
Perform engineering calculations, system analysis, equipment selection, and development of mechanical system details.
Lead and supervise the preparation of construction drawings, specifications, technical reports, studies, and other engineering documentation.
Serve as Engineer in Responsible Charge and seal engineering documents as required.
Conduct site investigations to evaluate existing systems, gather design information, identify deficiencies, and develop recommendations.
Coordinate mechanical designs with structural, process, electrical, architectural, and civil engineering disciplines.
Meet with clients to identify project requirements, evaluate design concepts, and provide technical recommendations.
Review engineering plans and designs for compliance with applicable codes, standards, project requirements, and established quality procedures.
Monitor project execution to help ensure deliverables are completed on schedule and within budget.
Provide construction-phase engineering support and perform site visits to observe construction progress.
Lead, mentor, and provide technical guidance to engineers and designers.
Assist with proposals, scopes of work, project estimates, and technical content for business development efforts.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, and project stakeholders.
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in building mechanical systems engineering.
Professional Engineer ( PE) license required.
Strong experience designing HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
Knowledge of applicable building and mechanical codes and standards, including IBC, IMC, IPC, IFC, ASHRAE, and ASPE.
Experience with FM Global or other facility insurance carrier requirements is highly preferred.
Experience leading multidisciplinary projects and directing the work of engineers and designers.
Proficiency with Revit, BIM, AutoCAD, Navisworks, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office preferred.
Strong technical writing, documentation, and engineering analysis skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary project teams.
Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to establish priorities and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Ability to work independently, solve complex engineering problems, and perform effectively under project deadlines.
Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain client relationships and identify client needs and project opportunities.
Ability to travel to project sites as needed for investigations, client meetings, and construction observations.
