  • Experience designing assemblies involving:
    • Plastics

    • Other integrated materials
  • Senior-level experience in mechanical design of injection-molded plastic components.
  • Strong proficiency with CAD systems.
  • Creo experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience developing and analyzing tolerance stack-ups for complex assemblies.
  • Strong experience creating detailed engineering drawings.
  • Experience leading small project scopes or subsystem development.
  • Strong cross-functional communication skills.
  • Ability to interface effectively with vendors.

Mechanical Design & Development

  • Lead the design and development of:
    • Injection-molded plastic components
    • Mechanical parts
    • Complex assemblies
  • Take designs from concept through design release.
  • Apply Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles.
  • Account for manufacturing and manufacturability constraints.
  • Develop and maintain:
    • 3D CAD models
    • Assemblies
    • Detailed engineering drawings
  • Ensure CAD models and documentation meet project requirements.

Tolerance & Drawing Ownership

  • Develop and validate tolerance stack-ups.
  • Ensure proper fit, function, and performance across assemblies.
  • Own engineering drawings and dimensioning strategies.
  • Create release-ready engineering documentation.
  • Use tolerance analysis to:
    • Mitigate design risks
    • Improve manufacturability
    • Improve product reliability
    • Support design decisions

Technical Leadership

  • Lead defined portions of engineering projects.
  • Manage design execution, risks, and deliverables.
  • Provide clear and timely project status updates.
  • Proactively identify and escalate issues affecting:
    • Scope
    • Schedule
    • Performance
    • Product development

Vendor Interface

  • Work directly with vendors on:
    • DFM reviews
    • Tooling strategies
    • Part optimization
    • Manufacturing considerations
  • Review and incorporate vendor feedback into design iterations.
  • Balance vendor recommendations with:
    • Product performance
    • Quality
    • Schedule
    • Design requirements

Education & Experience

  • Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree from an ABET-accredited institution or global equivalent.
  • Preferred degrees:
    • Plastics Engineering
    • Polymer Engineering
    • Mechanical Engineering
    • Related Engineering discipline
  • Experience: 4–6 years minimum specified under education requirements; 6–8 years listed as the overall required experience.
  • Medical device industry experience preferred.
  • Orthopedic industry experience strongly preferred.
