    Job Description

    Job Description
At Pickle Robot, we're on a mission to automate global supply chains with Physical AI. Our robots work alongside warehouse teams to unload trucks and containers — one of the toughest, most understaffed jobs in logistics — making the work safer, faster, and more efficient for the people doing it.  Loading trucks comes next, followed by the Dill Autonomy Engine: generalized autonomy that will eventually orchestrate robots across entire logistics processes.

We're looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to help shape the next generation of warehouse automation. Our robots tackle the toughest job on the dock — unloading trucks — and we're scaling fast, which means building hardware that's rugged, reliable, and ready for the unpredictable realities of warehouse life.

Your work will directly influence how our systems evolve as we expand deployments nationwide.

If this excites you, we'd love to meet you.

    What You'll Do
    • Work with an interdisciplinary team to execute product designs from concept to production — brainstorming solutions through sketches and CAD, and gathering input from cross-department stakeholders throughout
    • Conduct simulations, testing, and prototyping — including structural analysis, material selection, and stress testing — to validate robot component designs
    • Create detailed technical drawings, CAD models, and documentation
    • Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues across design, production, and deployment, leading continuous improvement efforts in robot performance and reliability
    • Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and quality control processes
    • Support production teams in scaling and improving manufacturing processes for robotics hardware
    What You'll Bring
    • Bachelor's or master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, with 7+ years of experience, ideally in robotics, automation, or a related field
    • End-to-end, cradle-to-grave design experience: designing machined, sheet metal, and welded parts (preferably in OnShape, though other parametric CAD tools like SolidWorks or Creo are acceptable), and submitting documentation through ECOs and deviations in Arena or similar tools
    • Comfortable building, testing, and rapidly iterating on functional prototypes by hand to validate ideas
    • Experience performing tolerance stackups, reviewing FAIs and PPAPs, and working on DFMEAs throughout your career
    • Has followed designs through the production line, diagnosing and fixing issues in engineering or production builds, as well as in the field
    • Experience designing for a range of manufacturing processes, including CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, welding, and 3D printing (injection molding experience is a plus)
    • Adept at evaluating design, performance, and logistical tradeoffs for hardware systems, and communicating complex concepts through clear technical documentation
    • Willing and able to work from our Charlestown, MA office at least 3 days per week
