Position Summary
The Senior Risk Analyst — Gas & Power will oversee day-to-day market risk monitoring and analysis for gas and power portfolios across the Americas. This role partners closely with trading, operations, finance, compliance, and commercial stakeholders to ensure disciplined risk-taking, robust controls, and actionable market insights.
Key Responsibilities Market Risk Monitoring & Limits
  • Monitor intraday and end-of-day market exposures across gas and power portfolios, including VaR, P&L attribution, and option risk metrics where applicable.
  • Track and enforce trading limits, dealer limits, stress thresholds, and escalation procedures.
  • Provide timely reporting and analysis to support trading and risk leadership.
Stress Testing & Scenario Analysis
  • Develop and execute historical and hypothetical stress scenarios to evaluate portfolio resilience under changing market conditions.
  • Identify concentration risks, liquidity concerns, volatility exposure, and dislocations across energy markets.
  • Deliver forward-looking market risk insights and recommendations.
Trade Capture & Valuation Oversight
  • Review pricing inputs including forward curves, volatility surfaces, heat rates, and hub data.
  • Investigate valuation discrepancies and model exceptions.
  • Support ongoing enhancement of valuation methodologies, testing frameworks, and risk analytics.
Reporting, Governance & Controls
  • Maintain strong control frameworks, audit trails, and policy adherence aligned with regulatory and internal governance standards.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Compliance, Legal, Credit, Operations, and Finance teams.
  • Drive process improvement initiatives and automation efforts to strengthen operational efficiency and reduce risk.
Stakeholder Partnership
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to trading teams by providing real-time risk insights, trade-level assessments, and pre-trade analysis.
  • Contribute to the mentorship and development of junior team members.
  • Support team scaling initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.

Desired Background
  • Experience in market risk, commodity risk, or trading support within gas, power, or broader energy markets.
  • Strong understanding of VaR, stress testing, P&L attribution, forward curves, and option-related risk.
  • Knowledge of physical and financial gas/power products, storage, spreads, and LNG markets is highly valued.
  • Advanced analytical and technical skills, including Excel, SQL, Python, and exposure to ETRM/risk platforms such as Endur, Allegro, Murex, or similar systems.
  • Ability to communicate complex risk concepts clearly to both technical and commercial stakeholders.
  • Degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, or another quantitative discipline preferred. FRM, PRM, or advanced degrees are a plus.
