Job Title: Senior Manufacturing Engineer
Location: Northbrook, IL
Hire Type: Contract-to-Hire
Target Pay Rate: $55.00 - $60.00/hour (W2)
Work Schedule: Monday–Friday, Fully Onsite

Job Summary:
Seeking a senior-level, hands-on Manufacturing Engineer who will focus on manufacturing processes, process development, validation, and continuous improvement in a regulated medical product manufacturing environment.
 
Approximately 80% of the role will be spent on the production floor, working directly with Operations and equipment to troubleshoot problems, improve processes, introduce new equipment, and increase production throughput. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with strong root-cause analysis and problem-solving skills who can independently identify opportunities and drive solutions through implementation.
 
Prior experience with heat treating, chemical processing/electroplating, and/or automation is highly beneficial.
 
Must-Have Skills:
  • 5+ years of hands-on manufacturing/process engineering experience
  • Heat treating and/or automation experience
  • Strong root cause analysis and structured problem-solving skills
  • Experience with manufacturing process development and validation
  • Lean Manufacturing / Continuous Improvement experience
  • Comfortable working directly on the production floor
  • Self-starter who can identify and solve problems independently
  • Experience with new equipment introduction and process improvement
  • Basic CAD/fixture design experience

Job Duties:
  • Provide hands-on manufacturing engineering support, spending approximately 80% of time on the production floor.
  • Lead process validation activities, particularly during the initial weeks of the assignment.
  • Develop and improve manufacturing processes, including heat treat and electropolishing processes.
  • Support new product development and manufacturing process development.
  • Lead Lean and continuous improvement initiatives to increase throughput, efficiency, quality, and productivity.
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement sustainable corrective actions.
  • Support new equipment introduction, process development, FAT/SAT, installation, and validation.
  • Support automation projects and equipment/process improvements.
  • Develop basic fixtures and tooling using CAD as needed.
  • Work closely with Operations and other engineering teams to troubleshoot equipment and manufacturing issues.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and independently drive projects from concept through implementation.
 
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering field preferred (Manufacturing, Chemical, Mechanical, or related)
  • Experience working in a regulated product manufacturing environment
  • Process validation and qualification experience
  • Automation or manufacturing equipment experience
  • Lean/Six Sigma training or certification preferred
  • Experience with FAT/SAT is preferred
  • Chemical processing or electropolishing experience preferred
  • Basic fixture design experience using CAD
