About Manufacturing Engineering:

Manufacturing Engineering develops, sustains, and improves safe, compliant, capable, and efficient manufacturing processes, equipment, and systems supporting J&J Vision products. The function partners with Operations, Quality, R&D, EHS, Maintenance, Automation, Materials, Product Engineering, Procurement, Finance, and external suppliers to deliver reliable supply, new product introductions, capacity, lifecycle management, and continuous improvement.

• Apply Lean, structured problem solving, risk assessment, design for manufacturability, process validation, and data-driven decision making to improve quality, yield, efficiency, reliability, flexibility, cost, and delivery.
• Operate in accordance with applicable Quality System requirements, current Good Manufacturing Practices, safety and environmental standards, and established change-control and documentation practices.
• Support manufacturing readiness for new products, processes, equipment, and materials and translate business needs into technically robust solutions.
• Demonstrate Credo-based leadership, inclusive teamwork, accountability, customer focus, and ethical decision making.

Position summary. The Senior Manufacturing Engineer leads sophisticated manufacturing engineering projects and independently owns significant process or equipment responsibilities. Integrates technical, compliance, financial, and business considerations to resolve daring problems and deliver sustainable improvements.

• Lead moderately to highly complex projects while ensuring safety, regulatory compliance, technical difficulty, and business needs are met.
• Own investigations and technical problem solving for recurring, multi-functional, or higher-risk manufacturing issues.
• Develop project charters, plans, financial estimates, technical justifications, and capital requests and present recommendations to stakeholders.
• Develop and implement robust characterization, design-of-experiments, qualification, and validation strategies.
• Serve as process or equipment SME during audits, reviews, transfers, and technical decisions.
• Mentor engineers and technicians and provide technical direction to project teams without formal supervisory authority.

Minimum qualifications and capabilities.

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related discipline and typically at least four years of relevant experience (or Master’s with 2 years, or a recent PhD graduate).

• Experience in manufacturing, maintenance, R&D, or process development within medical devices or pharmaceuticals is preferred.

• Demonstrated project leadership, validation, statistical analysis, risk management, Lean/Six Sigma application, technical writing, and stakeholder influence.
