    Job Summary

    The Senior Manager of Training will lead the Shared Services Training team and oversee the development and delivery of training solutions that support multiple franchise brands. This role serves as the primary liaison between the Shared Services Training team and brand operations and training leaders, ensuring training priorities, production needs, and deliverables are clearly defined and successfully executed.

    This leader will manage multiple complex projects, establish clear processes and accountability, and ensure training initiatives are delivered on time and aligned with business and brand objectives. The role will also be responsible for developing the capabilities of the training team through coaching, professional development, and ongoing performance management.

    The ideal candidate is a hands-on learning leader with deep expertise in adult learning, franchising, instructional design, and project management. This individual must be equally comfortable setting strategy, managing stakeholder relationships, developing team members, and stepping in to support course development or special projects when needed.

    Duties/Responsibilities

    Training Leadership and Strategy

    • Lead the Shared Services Training team responsible for supporting training initiatives across multiple franchise brands.
    • Partner with brand operations and training leaders to understand business priorities, identify training needs, and develop scalable learning solutions.
    • Translate business and operational needs into clear training strategies, project plans, and deliverables.
    • Ensure training programs support franchise owners, their team members, and brand-level performance objectives.
    • Promote consistent training standards while allowing for appropriate customization based on each brand’s needs.
    • Serve as a subject matter expert and trusted advisor on adult learning, instructional design, training delivery, and franchise education.

    Stakeholder and Brand Partnership

    • Serve as the primary liaison between the Shared Services Training team and brand operations, training, and functional leaders.
    • Facilitate planning conversations to define project scope, objectives, timelines, responsibilities, and expected outcomes.
    • Maintain strong working relationships across multiple brands and functions while balancing competing priorities.
    • Communicate project status, risks, resource needs, and timeline changes clearly and proactively.
    • Set appropriate expectations with stakeholders and ensure alignment before projects move into development.

    Project and Production Management

    • Manage a portfolio of simultaneous and complex training projects from intake through launch and evaluation.
    • Develop detailed project plans, production schedules, milestones, and accountability measures.
    • Prioritize projects based on business impact, urgency, resource availability, and strategic importance.
    • Assign work across the training team and ensure responsibilities and deadlines are clearly understood.
    • Monitor progress and hold team members and stakeholders accountable for meeting agreed-upon deadlines.
    • Identify potential project risks or barriers early and develop solutions to keep work moving forward.
    • Establish and maintain effective training intake, development, review, approval, and launch processes.
    • Ensure training materials are accurate, engaging, brand-aligned, and delivered according to established quality standards.

    Team Leadership and Development

    • Lead, coach, and develop a team of training and instructional design professionals.
    • Set clear goals, performance expectations, and measures of success for individual team members and the department.
    • Provide regular feedback, coaching, and professional development opportunities.
    • Build team capabilities in instructional design, technology, facilitation, project management, consulting, and stakeholder management.
    • Create an environment that promotes collaboration, accountability, creativity, and continuous improvement.
    • Support career development and succession planning within the training team.
    • Balance leadership responsibilities with a hands-on approach, contributing directly to projects when additional support is needed.

    Learning Design and Technology

    • Apply adult learning principles and instructional design best practices to the development of instructor-led, virtual, digital, and blended learning experiences.
    • Provide guidance and quality assurance for e-learning modules, facilitator guides, participant materials, job aids, videos, and performance support tools.
    • Oversee the effective use of learning management systems, course-authoring platforms, and design tools.
    • Support LMS administration, course organization, reporting, learner assignments, and platform optimization as needed.
    • Use tools such as Articulate 360, Canva, and other learning technologies to create or enhance professional training materials.
    • Evaluate new tools, technologies, and learning approaches that can improve accessibility, engagement, scalability, and learner outcomes.

    Continuous Improvement and Special Projects

    • Evaluate training effectiveness through learner feedback, stakeholder feedback, completion data, assessments, and business performance indicators.
    • Use data and feedback to recommend improvements to programs, processes, and learning experiences.
    • Support enterprise-wide initiatives and special projects that require training, communication, change management, or project leadership expertise.
    • Identify opportunities to simplify, standardize, and scale training across the franchise system.
    • Stay current on trends and best practices in adult learning, franchising, instructional design, training technology, and project management.

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in instructional design, education, organizational development, business, communications, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
    • 7 or more years of experience in learning and development, training, instructional design, or a related field.
    • 5 or more years of experience leading, coaching, or managing a training or instructional design team.
    • Demonstrated experience managing multiple complex projects with competing priorities and deadlines.
    • Strong expertise in adult learning principles, instructional design, and learning program development.
    • Experience working within a franchise organization, multi-brand company, field-based operation, or similarly complex business environment.
    • Strong project management skills, including project planning, prioritization, stakeholder communication, risk management, and deadline accountability.
    • Experience partnering with senior leaders, operations teams, subject matter experts, and cross-functional stakeholders.
    • Proficiency with learning management systems and digital learning platforms.
    • Proficiency with Articulate 360, including Storyline and Rise, Canva, Microsoft Office, and related course-development tools.
    • Strong written, verbal, presentation, facilitation, and consulting skills.
    • Ability to translate complex operational information into clear, practical, and engaging learning experiences.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience leading a shared services or centralized training function supporting multiple brands or business units.
    • Project management certification or formal project management training.
    • Experience with change management, performance consulting, and organizational development.
    • Experience developing training for franchise owners, field leaders, sales teams, operational teams, or frontline employees.
    • Experience establishing training governance, intake processes, service-level expectations, or production workflows.
    • Experience measuring the business impact and effectiveness of training programs.
    • Master’s degree in instructional design, adult education, organizational development, business, or a related discipline.

      Physical & Workplace Requirements:

      • Light-duty work environment – primarily office-based with minimal physical exertion. 
      • Ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer. 
      • Occasional standing or walking for presentations or facilitation. 
      • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs occasionally.  
      • Hybrid model – Work from the office on Tues/Wed/Thurs and from home on Mon/Fri. 
      • Travel Requirements: Up to 15% annually
