Position: Senior Manager, Software Engineering
Job Location: 1375 Crossman Avenue, Sunnyvale, CA 94089
Duties: Explore relevant products/solutions from an existing repertoire that can address business/technical needs. Assess gaps/ updates/ modifications between the customer/business expectations and the existing product/solutions (in case of agile methodology, for the iteration). Classify the requirements into applicable types (For example - Functional/Non-Functional, Derived/Imposed/Emergent etc.). Anticipate the solution risks / issues during requirements gathering phase, inform relevant stakeholders and recommend corrective steps. Contribute to the creation of user stories for component/application/complex (For agile methodology). Assist in design of solutions such that the processes / applications work in tandem for specific components/modules of a product. Evaluate trade-offs while designing a component based on the business requirements. Assist in conversion of HLD (High Level Design) to create detailed design using mock screens, pseudo codes and detailed functional logic of the modules for specific modules / components of a product. Create/configure minimalistic code for entire component/application and ensure the components are meeting business/technical requirements, non-functional requirements, low-maintainability, high-availability and high-scalability needs. Assist in the selection of appropriate languages (E.g. JavaScript, Python, C# etc.), development standards and tools (E.g. Monday.com, Linx, Embold etc.) for software coding/configuration. Take the initiative to learn the fundamentals of different coding languages and frameworks that would be useful for future scope of work. Build scripts for automation of repetitive and routine tasks in CI/CD (Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery), Testing or any other process (as applicable). Implement telemetry features as required independently. Ensure security policy requirements are properly applied to components/application during code development/configuration. Map the customer requirements into testing objectives. Identify and create test cases for the component/module. Execute test cases to test the code and detect errors and defects for the entire component. Execute different types of testing using appropriate testing tools based on the testing needs. Track and analyze defects for the component/ module and carry out regression testing to fix defects in all instances of code changes. Analyze defects from past projects/solutions to avoid recurrence of similar defects. Troubleshoot performance and availability bottlenecks for the application. Conduct complex maintenance procedures for applications independently. Monitor and evaluate the performance of the application by tracking and analyzing appropriate metrics; Perform maintenance (corrective, adaptive, perfective) and re-engineering activities. Analyze application logs, maintenance activity data, performance data and analysis; Evaluate change requests to identify those which are valid and feasible. Monitor and evaluate the progress of the projects against approved milestones and timelines. Provide inputs to relevant stakeholders regarding schedule progress, health, issues/risks, and key dependencies. Provide inputs to relevant stakeholders for the creation of project plans. Ensure adherence to the CICD process as per identified schedule. Assist in decomposing the product architecture into multiple components and modules and define architectural specifications for each module. Create/Apply the right architectural pattern across the module as indicated in the architectural plan to obtain the right result. Define the architecture blueprint for the various components within a product/solution. Analyze system performance impacting the complete product for non-functional requirements like reliability, operability, performance efficiency and security. This role supervises 6 associates: (2) Software Engineer III; (2) Senior Software Engineers; (2) Staff Software Engineer.
Minimum education and experience required: Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering (Any), or related field and 5 years of post-bachelor's progressively responsible experience in software engineering or related area; OR Master's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering (Any), or related field and 2 years of experience in software engineering or related area.
Skills required: Experience designing scalable microservices and data integration platforms for upstream systems using patterns including event-driven processing and secure, modular APIs. Experience with Java, relational databases MySQL, and Spring Boot frameworks, including the ability to review code, write efficient SQL queries, optimize performance, and lead backend design. Experience building complex ETL platforms using tools including PySpark, Jupyter Notebooks, and DataProc to apply business rules on high-volume datasets. Experience delivering solutions in Azure and GCP using services including Blob Storage, CosmosDB, Functions, BigQuery, DataProc, and Pub/Sub. Experience with CI/CD pipelines with tools including GitHub, Concord, and Looper, and enforcing quality with tools including SonarQube, Artifactory, and AKeyless. Experience defining and maintaining SLOs and dashboards using tools including Splunk, Prometheus, Grafana, and Open Observe. Experience designing modular, scalable workflows using orchestration tools including Concord and Kubie Flows. Experience with SOX/PCI compliance and managing secure access with systems including Microsoft AD, Firepass, and AKeyless. Experience partnering with SAP Payroll, HRIS, and enterprise teams to define integration contracts and align delivery cadence. Experience managing medium-to-large sized team of engineers of varied experience levels including team vision/mission setting, roadmap planning, setting technical direction, high/low performance management, and representation of team in various broad forums across the organization. Salary Range: $264,514/year to $286,000/year. Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance incentives.
