    Position Summary

     

    The Leader, CCC Coaching & Development is responsible for building, scaling, and continuously enhancing the Motivational Interviewing (MI)-based Client Centered Communication (CCC) curriculum at Mariner. Reporting to the Mariner Academy Executive Director, this role sets the standard for how financial professionals organization-wide build trust, drive engagement, and facilitate behavior change with clients.

     

    This role ensures Mariner Academy's communication training is not a single event, but a disciplined, ongoing process reinforced by continuous coaching. Success is achieved through live facilitation for beginner, intermediate, and advanced groups, direct 1:1 coaching, and leveraging AI-enabled transcript coding to evaluate coaching quality and track advisor development at scale.

     

    The Director, CCC Coaching & Development works closely with cross-functional teams and business-unit leaders to embed standardized CCC assessment and tracking in all certification paths. This leader also oversees a dedicated CCC Instructor to ensure coaching and facilitation capacity meets growing demand. The primary impact of this role is a measurable enterprise-wide increase in advisor-client trust and engagement, supporting Mariner Academy's certification goals.

     

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

     
    • Own the design and implementation of MI-based CCC curriculum across the Academy (beginner to advanced levels).

    • Facilitate live MI skills training for financial professionals and leaders, ensuring engaging and high-quality learning experiences.

    • Develop scalable CCC coaching, utilizing AI-driven transcript coding to enhance and evaluate 1:1 coaching efforts.

    • Provide 1:1 CCC coaching that helps advisors build proficiency and achieve measurable behavior change.

    • Collaborate with enterprise-wide stakeholders to support CCC competency assessment and tracking by business unit.

    • Supervise and grow a CCC Instructor to maintain facilitation quality and expand coaching support as enrollment increases.

    • Create and uphold CCC scoring rubrics and performance standards in partnership with Academy leadership.

    • Analyze advisor CCC performance data to identify coaching needs and shape personalized development plans.

    • Work with Learning Experience Managers to align CCC curriculum milestones with cohort schedules and certification tracks.

    • Foster cross-business unit relationships to champion a client-centered communication culture throughout the organization.

    • Coordinate logistics for both virtual and in-person training delivery, ensuring a consistent experience for distributed advisor teams.

     

    Qualifications

     

    Required Education and Experience

     
    • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

    • Experience facilitating live, MI-based skills training for professional or leadership audiences.

    • Experience delivering 1:1 MI coaching or mentoring in a professional development setting.

    • Demonstrated success in building and scaling MI training content for distributed professional audiences.

     

    Preferred Education and Experience

     
    • Membership in the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT).

    • MI coding expertise (e.g., MITI or comparable framework).

    • Previous 1:1 MI coaching experience.

    • Supervisory or people-management experience.

    • Experience in a finance-related field (wealth management, financial planning, institutional, tax, insurance, or trust).
