    About the role

    BAO Consulting Group is seeking a Senior Manager to join our Accounting Advisory practice. In this role, you will serve as a trusted advisor to CFOs, Controllers, and PE sponsors — owning complex engagements end-to-end while building our practice and developing the next generation of BAO talent. This is a high-visibility role with a clear path to Director.

    What you'll do

    • Serve as engagement lead for complex accounting advisory and financial reporting projects, managing scope, timeline, budget, and quality
    • Provide authoritative technical accounting guidance on multi-faceted issues including consolidations, variable interest entities (VIEs), complex debt instruments, equity compensation (ASC 718), impairment, and purchase price allocations
    • Lead financial statement preparation, restatement, and audit remediation engagements
    • Drive accounting policy development, adoption of new standards, and implementation of accounting changes
    • Act as primary relationship owner for key client accounts; proactively identify and address evolving client needs
    • Build and manage high-performing engagement teams; mentor Managers and Senior Associates
    • Contribute to practice development including methodology, tools, templates, and thought leadership
    • Actively participate in business development, including proposal writing, pitching, and client entertainment
    • Collaborate with BAO leadership on resource allocation, utilization, and talent planning

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; Master's a plus; CPA required
    • 7–10 years of total experience with at least 4 years in a public accounting or consulting advisory role
    • Deep technical knowledge of U.S. GAAP; IFRS exposure is a plus
    • Proven track record managing multiple concurrent client engagements and engagement teams
    • Strong executive presence with demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders
    • Excellent project management skills; experience managing budgets and billing

    Preferred qualifications

    • Big 4 or top-tier national firm experience
    • Experience advising PE-backed or sponsor-owned businesses
    • Exposure to capital markets transactions (IPO readiness, SPAC, debt offerings)
    • Established professional network in Dallas-Fort Worth or Houston markets
