The Senior Manager, Competitive Intelligence will support the Global Competitive
- Intelligence team by providing evidence-based strategic and tactical guidance through
- actionable intelligence to inform decision-making across CSL Behring. This role will work
- closely with the Global Competitive Intelligence Lead, Market Insights, and Forecasting
- teams to deliver relevant, timely, and actionable industry and competitive analysis as
- input into the Commercial Evaluation process and investment-related decision-making.
The incumbent will support therapy areas (TAs) to plan, recommend, develop and
- oversee all functional outputs that maximize the impact of Competitive Intelligence and
- analytics efforts. TAs may include Iron, Nephrology, and CardioVascular Renal.
- This role will require presentations to senior management, leveraging industry and
- competitive insights to support lifecycle management, global commercialization, and
- strategic planning for CSL’s inline and pipeline portfolios. The scope is global and requires
- close collaboration across multiple functions, including Commercial Development
- therapy areas, International Business Teams, Commercial Operations, Finance, R&D,
- Medical Affairs, Regulatory, and other key stakeholders.
The incumbent will help guide internal decision-making and contribute to strategic
- planning by keeping stakeholders informed of evolving industry dynamics and their
- potential impact on CSL’s strategic outlook. This individual must be able to integrate and
- cross-analyze quantitative and qualitative information from multiple sources, with
- minimal supervision, and translate it into comprehensive, well-supported
- recommendations that are relevant, timely, and actionable for product
- commercialization and strategy development.
Corporate Competitive Intelligence (CI)
- Supports the continued development and advancement of the Competitive
- Intelligence discipline across CSL, providing thought leadership and helping ensure
- CI outputs are appropriately integrated into business decision-making.
- Identifies and proactively monitors industry drivers, risks, opportunities, and
- competitive threats to inform commercialization planning and strategy
- development.
- Partners closely with TA/Brand teams, Insights & Analytics, and other cross-
- functional stakeholders to define and maintain prioritized Key Intelligence Topics
- and Questions (KITs/KIQs), as well as targeted intelligence-gathering plans.
- Triangulates, validates, and assesses the credibility of collected intelligence and
- related assumptions.
- Translates intelligence into timely insights, actionable recommendations, and
- practical solutions that support business decisions and strategic planning.
Analysis
- Identifies and analyzes targeted industry intelligence, market trends, and
- competitive developments across therapy areas to support commercialization
- planning, decision-making, and strategy development.
- Contributes to franchise and brand strategy as a Competitive Intelligence subject
- matter expert.
- Interprets and assesses competitor strategies for integration into brand strategy
- development, including pressure-testing the sustainability of strategic plans.
- Conducts secondary industry research and develops insightful analyses across
- treatment flows, competitor dynamics, and product fit to support the Commercial
- Evaluation process.
- Identifies key threats and opportunities and advises on action planning and
- competitor response strategy development.
- Leverages internal knowledge and subject matter experts, as needed, to evaluate
- the implications of competitor threats and opportunities.
- Conducts and/or leads CI programs in accordance with company policies and
- industry codes of ethics to supplement publicly available information, including
- management of external CI vendors.
Intelligence Resource Optimization
- Supports resource and systems optimization efforts to ensure effective use of CI
- resources across therapy areas, regions, and cross-functional teams.
- Contributes to the evolution, integration, and optimization of CI and AI tools,
- platforms, and systems to improve the efficiency, quality, and impact of Competitive
- Intelligence outputs.
BA or BS is required; Advanced degree is preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years of relevant business experience, including at least 5 years
- in competitive intelligence, 2 years in advanced analytics, and 3+ years in
- secondary market research.
- Pharmaceutical and/or biotechnology industry experience required;
- experience within a global manufacturing organization preferred.
- Some travel required.
- Strong analytical capabilities, with demonstrated ability to apply Competitive
- Intelligence methodologies and related analytical approaches.
- Proven research skills, including the ability to interpret, validate, and
- appropriately leverage insights from multiple sources.
- Ability to apply sound analytical techniques, use reliable information sources,
- and implement appropriate validation methods; advanced analytics
- experience is a plus.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to advise on long-range planning and
- contribute to future business strategies.
- Demonstrated experience working across multidisciplinary and cross-
- functional teams.
- Experience with process design, systems management, and database
- management.
- Experience managing budgets and external Competitive Intelligence vendors.
