Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Technical Manager to lead a strategic modernization effort within our Investment Management technology organization. This leader will be responsible for advancing a legacy on-premises SQL Server-based Investment Management Data Warehouse into a scalable, governed, cloud-native data and analytics platform on Google Cloud Platform, with BigQuery serving as a core enterprise data warehouse capability.

This is a high-visibility leadership role at the intersection of cloud data engineering, analytics modernization, AI enablement, and business transformation. The Senior Technical Manager will drive execution of the migration strategy, modernize data pipelines and reporting capabilities, enable governed analytics through Looker, and support AI-powered data access and productivity solutions using Vertex AI.

Req Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, platform engineering, cloud data architecture, or related technology leadership roles.
  • Strong hands-on or leadership experience with Google Cloud Platform, including BigQuery architecture, data modeling, performance tuning, cost optimization, and security.
  • Proven experience leading large-scale data warehouse modernization or cloud migration programs, preferably from SQL Server, Oracle, or other on-premises enterprise data warehouse platforms.
  • Strong understanding of modern data architecture patterns, including cloud data warehouses, data lakes, medallion architecture, dimensional modeling, semantic layers, ELT/ETL, metadata management, lineage, and data governance.
  • Strong programming foundation in Python, including experience supporting data engineering, automation, analytics, APIs, or AI/ML workflows.
  • Demonstrated experience managing technical teams, developing engineering talent, and leading delivery across complex, multi-stakeholder programs.
  • Strong understanding of cloud security, access controls, data privacy, audit requirements, production support, and operational resilience.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to senior business stakeholders and translate business priorities into executable technology plans.
  • Hands-on or leadership experience with Vertex AI, AI/ML platforms, intelligent agents, natural language data access, or AI-enabled analytics solutions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in investment management, asset management, insurance, capital markets, financial services, or risk analytics environments.
  • Prior experience modernizing investment data platforms, portfolio analytics systems, market data platforms, research data environments, or finance reporting ecosystems.
  • Familiarity with ASP.NET or legacy web-based reporting applications, especially in the context of analytics modernization.
  • Familiarity with Oracle SQR or similar legacy batch reporting and data processing technologies.
  • Experience integrating third-party financial data providers such as Bloomberg, State Street, Moody's, S&P, Fitch, or similar vendors.
  • Experience building AI-powered data access patterns, including semantic layers, vector search, retrieval-augmented generation, governed natural language queries, and agent-based workflows.
  • Experience with CI/CD, infrastructure as code, DevOps/DataOps practices, automated testing, data quality frameworks, and production observability.
  • Experience operating in a regulated enterprise environment with formal architecture, security, privacy, and governance processes.

Education

Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$106,605.00 - $260,590.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company's equity award program.
