Mitsubishi Chemical Carbon Fiber and Composites (MCCFC) is composed of several companies, but at its core there are two. In April 2013, two California Companies, Grafil, a carbon fiber manufacturer in Sacramento and Newport Adhesives and Composites, a prepreg manufacturer in Irvine, were merged to create Mitsubishi Rayon Carbon Fiber and Composites (MRCFAC); then in 2017, we re-branded to MCCFC. Since our merge, we have made multiple acquisitions within the United States. In addition to these acquisitions, we have continued to improve and expand our current facility's capabilities. Job Purpose
The Senior Maintenance Technician performs advanced maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, installation, and facility support activities for manufacturing equipment, utilities, buildings, and infrastructure systems while supporting safe and reliable plant operations.
Principal Accountabilities
- Follows all safety rules and regulations. Work in a safe manner with particular attention to the correct use of Personal Protective Equipment, Lock out/Tag out procedure, Confined Space restrictions, and Hot Work requirements.
- Plan and assist the Maintenance Technicians work. Provide all necessary support for planned and/or breakdown maintenance of the production plant.
- Plans and lays out work from blueprints, drawings, other written specifications and/or oral instructions. Selects materials, equipment, and tools to be used. Uses hand and/or portable power tools. Sets up and operates the full range of shop equipment and machines of each trade, working to close tolerances, and uses appropriate standard and specialized measuring and testing instruments.
- Coordinates process modifications in conjunction with AS9100 and ISO9001 process change protocols.
- Maintain permitted conditions for facility in accordance to local, state and federal regulations OSHA, city, OCFA fire permits, building permits, AQMD, etc.
- Ensure planned work (new, repair, maintaining) meets local, state and federal building, electrical, sprinkler, fire, plumbing codes, etc.
- Production Machinery Repair - Maintains numerous types of fixed and semi-fixed production machinery such as custom-built industrial machines used in the manufacture of all products.
- Electrical Work -work with senior electrician to maintain electrical lines, circuits, systems, and associated fixtures, controls, and equipment. Design, upgrade, repair according to Electrical code.
- Pipefitting - Modifies and repairs new and existing piping systems and equipment such as hydraulic systems, expansion tanks, condensate, vacuum, and circulating pumps.
- Utility Systems Repairing - Maintains and repairs one or more utility systems such as heating and/or air conditioning equipment, and plant other infrastructure and quality control equipment.
- Sheet Metal Work - Forms, joins, assembles and installs items and systems such as heating, air-conditioning and ventilating pipes, conduits, and other items and systems which have combined straight and curved edges or irregular curves and planes.
- Machining - Repairs and rebuilds items from raw stock of different metals, metal alloys and other materials, such as stainless steel alloys, aluminum, rubber, plastics, and nylon, through the use of conventional machine tools.
- Welding - Welds all types of commonly used metals and alloys of various sizes, shapes, and thicknesses.
- Perform job duties and obtain training in accordance with ISO procedures.
- Maintain documentation such as machinery Daily, Weekly and Monthly maintenance check lists records, develop work orders, assign jobs and give directions to all maintenance crew on every single job is required.
- Ensure that all work carried out by the department is conducted in accordance with established company procedures, in a safe manner. Notify management immediately of any unsafe conditions that are discovered during routine inspections.
Knowledge / Skills / Experience
High School Diploma or GED required. 5-10 years of industrial machinery and maintenance experience preferred. Strong mechanical, electrical, fabrication, welding, troubleshooting, and code compliance knowledge.
Experience with manufacturing is required. Chemical or converting industry experience is a plus. Bilingual Spanish skills are a plus.

- The salary range for this position is $38 - $47. Factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, job-related skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations may influence base pay offered. This salary will be subject to a geographic adjustment (according to a specific city and state), if an authorization is granted to work outside of the location listed in this posting.
